Hot Rods Got another Tudor and now want to chop it

looking good. can't wait to see the body on the chassis. Still trying to figure out my chop, but plan to drive this summer and chop next winter.

 

Very cool, do you have a target date to have it up and running this summer?

 

That is for sure, but with all the littles at home, I get NOTHING done there! My employee would much rather work on the hot rods than repacking bearings and putting on trailer hitches so its a win win all the way around. He is a great help.

That is a good plan. This chassis came out from underneath my Coupe and that was the plan, do a little to make it cool for a summer then tear into it and do it up right as time an money allowed. Heavy chops are cool, but I REALLY like th look of a two inch chop.

Thanks, it was a complete running driving car on Monday, roadworthy and all. I want to clean everything up and ultra detail everything before the Tudor body goes on it. If I bolt the body on on Friday it will be a runner. The only things I have left are body related, as in the glass and dealing with upholstering the seats, and figuring the tailight treatment.

 

bitchin, please tell me the steelies are staying on the coupe though.

 

Absolutely.
I am putting these tires on wires and will run them on this chassis or swap them with mitchs wire wheels and tires and run these on that car.

Wide whites will go on the steel wheels on the coupe.

Turned out much better than I could have hoped for.

Next up is dealing with wether or not to ceramic coat the header and intake or leave bare metal but coat it with gibbs.
And the other is the tailight treatment. Either gonna do a single A light with plate mounted below off on the left or possibly centered on the back down low.

Any thoughts? ???

 

Oh man that looks killer!
I seem to remember you lifting the rear spring mount on the rear cross member to get the height you wanted and then making a box inside the coupe to cover it, did you have to clearance the body of the tudor to clear the mods on the rear crossmember?

 

I told my painter to brake out the sawzall to clearance it before I got there.
We set the body on and it was hung up a little. Rather than trim it we went ahead and put in the body blocks. Its surprising how much they space uo the body. Once they were in there is a solid half inch clearance on the sides.

 

What about mounting the taillight and rear license plate on a spare tire mount?

 

Mounted in that location woukd be good but the bracket itself sticks out really far because holds the wheel at its center. And..... I ebayed it lol

 

Center the tail light down low, keep it simple. I don't want to have to repaint anything when I own it LOL

 

You wanna pop for the 32 shell and insert also?

 

If your going fenderless, paint the frame the same color. It makes it look more like one complete matching car, not different peices.

We just put in the new motor mount kits from sac vintage ford and the gasket arrived as well so the engine parts should be going on soon.

I have a 32 taillight center mounted down low. Sorry about the bad photo, it is all I had on my computer. I will try and get a better one.

I held up the A light and plate in that location and it just kind of seemed like it stuck out far. Yours looks pretty good though. Is a 32 light not as deep as an A light?

And lastly, is your bracket mounted to the body directly behind the light, or does it drop down and connect to the bottom thick bar where the spare tire mount bolts to?
