  1. Wasn't the Ansen Sprint around back in '63? And a bunch of British muscians with mop-tops all over the T.V. around the same time?

We will, but man, seriously, If you had been out walking the street with a 'doo like that in '64, you would had a good chance of gettin' a free ride in a black car with white doors. ESPECIALLY in Georgia!:p:p

As far as the Ansen slots go, there may have been some literature or a prototype or two around at that time but I'm not sure if any real proof of the average joe using them pre '68 has shown up?

Lets not get distracted by Harleys and haircuts, it’s those bad-ass, tube cassis; glass bodied, automatic running, alcohol burning, Summit catalog whore, clean launching, straight running, boring ass Gasser posers we’re talking about here!
    Lets see yours!

  5. Or worse if'n you had a purty mouth.

But seriously, how about some actual photo evidence, especially wheel choices.

I see it going down something like this...
Circa 1963, Sheriff Buck and his ernstwhile deputy Cleatus out cruising around East Buttwallow, GA, checking that all is well. "Hey Buck, you know, I was thinkin' about goin' over to Billy Bobs, an' gettin' me one o' them thar fancy flat-top haircuts..." "Well now, I dont dont know ya wanna go...HEY! Lookie over yonder Cleatus, that looks like wonna those upitty, know it all, northerner college kids, down here to make trouble! Cant rightly tell ifin its a boy or a girl with that fancy haircut... Why, I bet ya' hes from New Yawk City" Cleatus: "NEW YAWK CITY!!!???"

Nope, cant see that ending well at ALL.:D

Ok, you got me on the terminoligy there George, But this whitwalls on Mag wheels trend makes me sick especially fronts. I've seen them in the old mags, but generally pre 64, and pre mag wheels. Still a gasoline class racer. not just something with a speedway axle kit.

Just trying to keep the young uns on the straight and narrow. Next thing, we'll have a bunch of numbnuts calling us haters, and refering to their straight-axle foor door falcons as "competition coupes".:rolleyes:

1968 was the first year the nhra allowed tube frames in the gasser classes. They had to be rectangular as round tube frame rails were prohibited. The Oddy Opel had rectangular frame rails. Both of Ohio Georges' Mustangs were built with Willys frame rails even though tubing would have been allowed in the '69 car.

    Only official designation - AA/S (see aasupercharged.net) since 1994
    (heads-up) AA/GS minus the Gas

Index classes couldn't care less what fuel is run. (except nitro) Many "gasser groups" have "allowed" methanol.
