When I originally sectioned the dash, I lost the center pod that held the clock. I really thought it looked cool so a added it back in. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

My plan is to have a nice modern stereo and have it completely hidden underneath the old speaker grill. So I welded hinges on the grill and glued strong disc magnets to the inside. Now I need to make a glove box and a panel to hold the CD player. [IMG] [IMG]

    Here it is so far

That dash really came out nice. A lot of work, but you got it looking good. Adding the clock bezel back in made it much better IMO.

I made up a plate for the back of the gauge panel and welded it up. Now its time to find some cool gauges. [IMG]

I had to put everything else on hold to fix a problem that was bugging the crap outta me.Since I built this car it has been very hard to steer, and an old timer told me to get a shorter pitman arm. So cut mine up. I was nervous about it at first but its strong as hell now. [IMG]

I made the pitman arm 6.5" center to center. It was 8.25" center to center. [IMG]

I beveled the welding areas. And tack in ⅛"strap around the perimeter of the arm. Then preheated it and welded her up. After welding I let it cool in a bucket of sand.

The car is SO much better to drive with the shorter pitman arm. It feels like power steering compared what it was. [IMG]

Here's a profile pic to show how much room there is. It's actually a fairly comfy spot once you get back there. Not bad for a small car with a 5"chop.

I bent up some 1" square tube for the roof. Should be getting roof upholstery done soon.

My friend Kenny happens to do upholstery .I went with a snap on vinyl so I can take it off when I'm welding and grinding.

I learned that in order to do good upholstery , you first need to steal your sons sponge bob duct tape.
