Slowly but surely. Got the Wilwood rear calipers last night and did a clearance check on a spare set of Supremes. Looks like I'm in business. Supposed to receive the fronts and some break line tonight.

Trying to decide weather or not I buy the original wiring kit - easily over $600 just in wire - or go with an aftermarket kit and hope I'm smart enough to wire this bird on my own. Time to crack down expenses.

 

If I may... Go wiht an aftermarket Street rod type kit. Our little cars are a ton of fun but in my opinion come with the hinkeiest wiring sytem this side of a '68 VW. Stock the headlight switches don't last real long, and there is only one or two fuses in the whole deal. You can do better!

 

Louvres, I'm with you. Then comes the age-old "who makes a better..." question that I'm watching on other threads. Painless uses Ford color coding, which I like, as trivial as it is, but they're pricey. Rebel is a good deal if you know what you're doing, which I don't. Yet.

Working on the windows. I've got some cerium oxide, and hand polished the glass.

The frame screws are stuck, so I threw a smattering of WD-40 on the screws. I ruined two hand screwdrivers trying to get them loose.

Try repeatedly soaking those screws with PB Blaster.You can find it almost any parts store.Works better than Wd40 I've found.

Where did you buy cerium oxide?

The Falcon went back to Boling Brothers for one last fab job (hopefully) tonight.

Hope to get the transmission started this week or next.

It's great stuff but pricey. It's very, very similar to "jeweler's rouge," but without the terrible staining properties. I got mine from a local gemologist/jeweler, but you can get it in tubs online. Check Amazon. It's really easy to use. The jeweler suggested I get a large piece of felt and cut out a pad for a real slow buffer, and buff the glass out with the felt and Cerium oxide. Also, use a glass polish/wax when you're finished to protect the new layer of glass.

Trans mount is finished - thanks to Derrek and Jarod at Boling Brothers, and had them order a 16-circuit Rebel Wire kit. Hopefully I can get my new front and rear calipers mounted this weekend. I got a spray can of POR-15 chassis black to try on some parts like the caliper mounts.

Work has been getting in the way of important stuff like my 6 month old boy, and the Falcon. Unfortunately, it's not going to slow down in the foreseeable future, so I'll be cramming work into the Falcon when I can.

If anybody needs a set of GM brake calipers and mounts to fit a Mustang II with Granada rotors, hit me up. Never had an ounce of fluid to them - previously mounted, never used.

You may be getting tired of the compliments but I really like what your pulling off here. Boulevard cruiser meets Hot Rod done with higher end components yet keeping it in the real world of the backyard builder. Great vision and execution sir.

 

I will never tire of the compliments. I'm a hot rod and Kustom nerd. While other people chase sports stars and celebrities, I stutter and blubber like a little kid when I meet guys like Steve Stanford and Thom Taylor. So when real, true to life car guys have nice things to say about my vision and taste, it's truly an honor. Thank you!

Subscribed. Great inspiration to get me back on my build. Real excited to see this thing live!

 

Just last week I read on the HAMB about 50/50 mixof trans fruid and acitone, I tried it, seemed to work great so far.

 

Little by little.

Cleaning up the front end for final assembly. A couple cans of POR-15 Chassis black, some vaseline to protect joints from overpay, and some elbow grease. Working on a break issue where there's virtually zero clearance between pads and the rotor.
