My neighbor Terry Spears' '63 Sport Fury that made several magazines back in the 70s. Terry was 18 when it was in this feature in Street Machine magazine (1977). He built the car himself, including wiring, tractions bars, putting the hood scoop on, built engine, etc. I saw Terry last November at the Hot Rod Garage open house and he told me he still has the car.

My "street freak" in the 70s was this '30 Model A coupe, 289, C4. This was taken after getting home from the '76 Street Rod Nationals

Aw shucks, thanks fellas, that car holds a special place in my heart. Bought it my junior year in high school and went from 283/Powerglide to 396/Muncie by the time I was 20. I learned to wrench/drink/screw/race/get arrested in that thing, pretty much lived in it. If I could turn back the clock it'd be sittin' in my garage right now.

This reminds me of my '62 Falcon I had back then. It was baby blue, but otherwise looked like this (though, not so clean). It had a'59 Edsel 9" with cheater slicks. Radiused rear wheel wells. Still had 13" on the front. It was powered first by a 272 inch Y- block, then by a 292 inch and finally by a 312 inch. Even with the open end wrench I had to use on one of the plugs, it was still a bitch to change them.
Thanks for stirring up old memories.

Hah! that sounds familiar! I have a heated and bent box-end and a shortened plug socket with a hex on the end, just for getting three of the plugs out of the FE that was in my '67 Falcon!

  29. This is pretty wild!

Never seen a clear scoop before.

This guy's car is screaming street machine right down to the "Street is Neat" plate frame.
