Shouldn't you be in the hospital still if its that serious instead of online ? Also as others have said if you do have a suit pending the less you say the better.. Hope ya get to feeling better

6. Dude sorry to hear this. Hope you heal up soon.

7. Good news, bad news. Georgia is not a no-fault insurance state. No-fault picks up medical bills to a certain point ($50K in NY) and pays you for time out of work due to the injury. However, no-fault puts a limit on injury claims, so you may ultimately see a better settlement.

Stick with the lawyer to make sure your out-of-pocket is kept to a minimum. Look into the Workmans Comp angle if you were going to or from work. Your case is unique since you were in fact a pedestrian and not operating a vehicle. Your car insurance doesn't factor into anything.

Keep everything that you get in the mail, write down every phone call you make or take, date, time, what was discussed. Your lawyer will also tell you not to discuss the case with anyone, so no details over the internets is wise.

Do not talk to the other insurance company. They will send someone around with a $500 or $1000 check to get you to settle the deal on the spot. They go away once you have retained a lawyer.

Feel better and best wishes for a speedy recovery!

This really sucks because I was always able to depend on myself, I have a friend with stage 3 cancer who I spent a huge amount of time helping, now I can't do anything for him anymore, im always the one other people have asked when they needed something, now I can't help anyone,

10. Have you had an MRI done yet? I would pressure the doctors to refer you to a spine specialist ASAP. They will give you the best evaluation possible and recommend care options.

Prayer is just as rewarding doing as receiving - Done deal for you and your friend

My wife and I got hit a few years ago as pedestrians in a cross walk no less. Car came around the corner behind us. Never saw it coming but that’s not important now. The point is, unless you were hit by a rich person all you are going to get is the max on their insurance policy. You can get a judgment but you can’t get nothing if they don’t have nothing. Our insurance paid most of it, his didn't even cover my wife's hospital bill.
My sympathy is with you. Hope you are better soon.

14. God speed and help this person in need!
I hope that you have the other person accountable.
Were they young or old?
Old laws tell drivers, even if we don't like the cycler or the nuisance they cause, they have the right of way!!! I use to teach driver's ed for a short while, I use to HATE to be behind some smart-assed kid on a bicycle as they would, on purpose, be in the middle of the traffic lane daring cars to bump them. A few times I rolled down my window and gave a stern talk to them. A lot of times all I got was a finger salute and they rode off quicly. Even though they did that on purpose they were in the right! Especially if there were no minimum speeds posted.
Notice I am NOT talking about your situation here but just to say that they have to watch out for cyclists! So a lot of good that is going to do for you now. But prayer from your group that cares about each other is and does work wonders! You will ALSO have to gut it out and keep moving working thru all of this. It will be hard and you CAN do it!
God speed!

Sorry to hear about your accident, here's to a full recovery.

Out here on the West coast we seem to have two kinds of bicyclists. The commuters who use the bike for their transportation to work who tend to follow the laws pretty well and the "sport" bicyclists who firmly believe that the rules of the road don't apply to them. Many of those don't show a lot of common sense either. Someday you will no doubt read about a tanker truck hauling milk from one of the dairys to the cheese plant running over a dozen drunk bicyclists during a wine tasting ride by a Seattle bike club.

Vehicle driver wise here locally we have idiots who don't seem to be able to see 3/4 ton pickups running down the road with Halogen headlights on in the daytime let alone see a man on a bicycle. And I have more than seen my fill of drunken wine tasters on the road both in cars and on bicycles.

wow, sounds like things are bad but, could have been worse. please keep us posted on your recovery. your "Family" will be thinking about you and sending positive thoughts. one of my sons rode his bike into the side of a car that pulled out of a driveway because driver did not look around. he flew over hood but, only minor scratches. next time he had a tennis racket hanging from handle bars that ended between front spokes and he flipped forward and ended up hitting his head on the edge of curb. another time he came down a steep hill too fast and tried to stop - ended up going between the curb and a boat trailer. hit so hard broke pedal off. he came out OK, and so will you.
