Cool find man. Hope the engine is okay and you can get it going without too much trouble. I'm not sure I could pull off driving it with that paint, but I applaud your decision to leave it. Have fun!
Sweet. I once had a '58 retractable barn find - took a garbage can full of mouse nest out of it. Got it running, driving and top working. One of those that I let get away. Don't know why the fuss about your vintage panel paint. Cool story! Cool time capsule! I am glad you are leaving the paint. I see no reason a good air brush guy couldn't fix the missing area on the quater panel. I look forward to seeing more pics when sees daylight. I hope you post some pics of the other stuff in the barn too.
Thats a pretty cool find! I'd leave the paint just as is in order to spin people up. lol Its a piece of local history and I can just imagine meeting some retired cop who recognizes it and hearing his stories about it.
PAINT IS AWESOME!! Don't listen to the negatives about it from some others. This 70's style street freak genre is growing fast in popularity and is guaranteed the next craze.. You've discovered a gem in my books and I'm a young gun who was still a twinkle in my dads eye during the 70's who is now trying to recreate a psychedelic paint scheme for my 56 belair

I would leave the paint as is and clear coat over it. It is part of your story about finding it and a MAJOR piece of the pie. If you had just gotten car in the barn minus the paint job...there would be alot less conversation about it. Awesome find and that paint is part of the history of the car. I cant wait to see it cleaned up. Please post more pics later on. Thanks for sharing!

After the Easy Rider movie in the 60's everybody was smoking something. I can tell the paint was "highly" influenced by the movie...
Very nice, I'd leave it as is, as much as possible. De-patina the rims and go through everything else, then have fun. Some may not say that it is "original", but it certainly is "genuine."
Your right on the ugly paint, it certainly is not the quality panel job I remember seeing on lowrider cars while growing up in Stanton and Long Beach, Calif. but thats what makes it so cool, as long as I own this car it will stay as it is, thank you very much.
When you lived in Stanton did you get knocked off your bike by a blue and white '68 Plymouth Satellite? If you did it wasn't me! LOL

Congratulations on the rest of the cool stuff in the shed including all the stuff you ain't seen yet. Congratulations on the whole damn thing and I have absolutely no negative comments whatsoever. I am happy for you and envious and I am eagerly looking forward to more pictures.
I wonder if it was painted in '75 or some time leading up to the Bicentennial? Seems like alot of cars were painted up this way before '76. The guy across the street from me had his '66 Mustang painted red with blue top and white stars in the cove on an off-white background. I'm glad I'm old enough to have those memories.
