Tracking down all the sheet metal for the 318 I just picked up I have come to one conclusion, I hate the M/T valve covers. I like finned valve covers just not sure if I want the offenhauser ones or can find something we would like more. I am not much for advertising a brand name on anything, just wanted to see if you guys had seen any others.
Same ones on mine, they are my all time favorite valve covers...360 under mine same cover though. I hate the M/T covers too I know they are nostalgic and crap but they are sooooo ugly I never understood how they caught on......... eewww I know you said brand name..but I still get people asking me what cubes my SBC is??!!! I acually had a guy argue with me the other day saying chevy was the only brand to make a orange engine!!!!....LOL Uploaded with ImageShack.us
They may not be pre 64...but I think those are the coolest valve covers for a Mopar powered Mopar......they shout out "I went the extra mile and put the right engine in my car!!!"
I always liked the 273 Commando Valve covers. Here is a link to a site that has some. It is a little bit down the page. Jeff
Did they make M/T valve covers for the Poly's? I don't remember seeing any, so I assumed LA. Besides, I always liked the stock poly valve covers.
another vote for the 273 commando's....I have a NOS set of "Pro Stock" covers not sure what to do with....that's what it says in the middle anyway....
So its not a REAL 318...........lol.............if its a Poly then Edelbrock are the only 318 Poly finned covers I know of........lol......andyd
I've been hanging on to a pair of cal-custom LA valve covers for about 12-15 years. Never have mounted them on an engine, but I can't bring myself to get rid of them.
Craig and Alan Fountain make a very nice set of finned covers for the 318 Poly which are the same as the Edelbrock's without the name and are a better quality item than the Edelbrock's. Moon make a very nice set for the 273-360 engine which are "Made in the U.S.A." and are listed as $265 a pair in their catalog. The finish on them is fantastic.
The pro stocks look like Ansen no name covers with a name added. http://ansenusa.com/product/mopar-340-no-name-polished/
He only made one set, on March 15, 1988. THOSE PROTOTYPES WERE NEVER SEEN AGAIN. http://www.unsolved.com/ajaxfiles/mur_mickey_thompson.htm Yeah, if you can find a set, and happen to have an extra $1500 bucks laying around. Or if you're lucky like Swifty, who is like this awesome magnet for 318 Poly speed parts (I know what you've got out in the shed, Mr. Swift! ). Here's the Edelbrocks: But I will say, Craig & Al's are THICK and NICE. They make the Edelbrock ones look like cheap, Chinese turdlings. Here's their glorious creations: Shoot 'ol Craig an email if any of you Poly folks want a set: [email protected] They're going for about $400 a set, delivered (from Australia). ~Jason
