    Hey,

Anyone have any inside skinny on the build of the Art Deco- Delahaye like coupe bein' built for James Hetfield by Dore & Marcel?
    Chassis info?
    Power train?
Some of the body panels look to have been sourced from existing vehicle, any idea which one/s?

    Merci

It's pretty easy to tell it' all hand formed and captures the essence of the European classics while not copying any of them. I like it, it ought to drive the classic car guys (not the frigging 64 chebbie bunch) nuts trying to figure out which salon in France it was built in when it's done.

SIX MONTHS ??!! Marcel's sons were humppin' on that one:)
The design has alot of coachbuilder Figoni with a spash of Chapron tossed into the blender, it looks like designer Jimmy Smith is a big fan of pre-war French coachbuilder designs:)

This build kinda reminds me of the Toons/Ron Kelloge Jaguar built some fifteen years back. I hope the power train of the Black Pearl is something exotic and not a Chevrolet;)

    Thanx for the heads up!

Can you post the artwork you did -- or will you have to wait until final unveil when finished?

the swoopy fender and running board line reminded me of Bones's orange zephyr, but with some peaked 37 Diamond T front fenders..All i know is i kept circleing it like it was prey!!

I'll withhold judgement until it's further along, as I have criticized prematurely before. I do recognize the influences, having seen the Deco show at the Mullins Museum in Oxnard.

If you have never been, just fucking GO. It is an amazing collection equal to the AMBR contenders.

The blue Duesenberg is a Graber-bodied car. I think its owned by Sam Mann of NJ, but that isn't him behind the wheel.

Hetfield's car is just amazing. I see the Figoni & Falaschi style Delahaye grill, but the shape of the side windows with the dip down reminds me a Letournier & Marchand design used on some Delages. Regardless, I can't wait to see this finished!

I was wondering about this car too, It jumped off my screen and slapped me when I first saw it the other day..

Whats going on around back? I haven't seen any shots besides a few front 3/4 views.

I saw a couple of rear views in one or two of the GNRS photos, but damn if I can recall which ones:eek:

I'd be really suprised to see any build photos posted any time soon, if ever. It's not like Luke and Marc have to go far to find work, and their work and their father's has always sold itself:)

This build kinda has the vibe of the " Ruby DeLux " from a few years back, only with deeper pockets and a french flair!

I got a few pics. Overall I think the design is drop dead gorgeous but, I'm not real excited about the shape of the side windows, particularly how they look like a 58 Impala at the rear.

That is one beautiful car. Awesome show this year. The Black Pearl was really one special car to see in person.

beautiful car ...the side windows and windsheild along with the peak in the front fenders do look kinda Delage D8 inspired IMO.The whole car reminds me of Coddingtons Lead Zephyr tho esp from the rear...but then Marcels did that car also. I'd love to check out one of their bare metal jobs in the flesh..very inspiring I'd say

  27. I stood by it at the show for a while trying to figure out if it was built from an existing car or totally from scratch. Either way I walked around it thinking that it had some amazing workmanship. It was great to see in person, I cant wait to see the choice's for paint and interior.

I'm gonna guess .063 3003 H14 Aluminum- pretty standard material for aluminum panelwork.
