Wow...January almost gone and no progress report.

Hate to say it, but the reason is there has been no progress. Between family events and house maintenance, (we're in the middle of getting our electrical panel upgraded), I can only say that things have been on hold. Hope to have something to show in February. :p

Meanwhile back at the ranch, here's my "fill in the time blanks" new hobby I started last March. Building, (and trying to teach myself how to play them), Cigar Box Guitars. So far it is a fun, low buck adventure. I built this one in about a week, working on it a few hours a day. They sound great when played by someone who can play as a few of my musician friends have shown me. Now I need to practice, practice, practice. :D

Actually it's a "Partagas Gigante" box and an old pine 1X2 leftover from a garden trellis of a couple of years ago that sat out against the back fence for a couple of years to age. Sounds really good. Named it the "Junkyard Dog" and now I'm trying to learn how to play it well enough that I won't embarrass myself if anyone hears me. :p

Lots of 3 string cigar guitars on Youtube. Most are amplified. Those seem to be good for Blues slide usage.

What type of music are you interested in playing?

Slide Blues. Building them as three string fretless and using part of a 5/8" deep socket as my slide. Just sort of noodling around with it right now, need to dedicate some daily practice time and I will get better. :p

Have a friend who is a great slide bluesman and he can really make it sing.

Beats me Jerry, I've been at this thing almost three years longer than you have had your Seagraves Special build posted. :D

Sometimes delays happen in ways we don't expect. Had an IDIOT hang a U-turn about 100' in front of us on Friday the 15th. Sort of messed up my parts hauler and pissed me off a bit. Patti and I came through the ordeal with minor bruising, but otherwise unharmed. Our truck took a fair amount of damage, but is being repaired. The 2011 Chevy Maliboob we hit was totaled.

It was a bit more excitement than we had planned for the day, but we're doing alright and other than a few aches here and there, no problems.

Wish we had been in a big truck, then we might have decreased the population of IDIOTS in the world. The scary part of it was when I asked him what the hell he thought he was doing, he said "what do you mean, you hit me". I was really tempted to hit him again.

That thought is what stopped me...that and the fact that if I started I might not have stopped. :p

Getting old seems to make the bumps and bruises take longer to go away, but it still beats the alternative. :D

There's more of them (idiots) than us (non-idiots). Thanks for trying to reduce their number by one.

    Glad you two are okay.

Gave it my best shot. Got a copy of the Highway Patrol report today, all fault was his and he even has insurance.

Well, yesterday was one month from impact. Latest word is we should get the truck back on Monday. Have a couple of "house projects" on the "have to do list", and then hope to actually get back to work on the car. If that bag of $20s would just fall in the back yard, things would start happening fast. :D

Well, we got our truck back Monday afternoon. It's been a busy week, but yesterday I finally got all of the tools and stuff reloaded into the big cross bed box and the garage is almost back to "normal". I know there is a race car project in there somewhere. Hope to find it sometime next week.

Here are "before and after" shots of the truck, we'll return to the regular scheduled programing next week.

The wheel was fine, the tire had a large divot. She got a new set of tires all around on Tuesday and we're ready to rock and roll! :D

Well, it had to happen sooner or later. Old6rodder came out yesterday for some bench racing, general BS-ing and a bit of shop engineering time and we came up with a simple fix for a minor problem I have been trying to solve on the Rabbit. Plus, with his assistance we actually got some pieces made for the belly pan/floor support for the car. Not really anything for pictures, but we did make some progress even if it was small. Stay tuned kiddies, more to follow in the weeks ahead. Maybe even some pictures. :p
