We were going along great on this project years ago, and then health issues and the building of our new shop stalled it out. It was within a month or so of completion. We even tried selling it so that someone else could campaign it and get it to the salt. Well, this past weekend we pulled it into the shop to resume work. Years back we even left notes taped to it so that in case we returned to it we wouldn't forget to do something. You can see the yellow note taped to the watertank in this picture. We spent the day re-working the throttle. Next week some more details and adding all the fluids.. Then the following weekend : STARTUP! Thats one we've been looking forward to for a very long time! The goal is to be on the salt for Speedweek!
best recheck the current rule book for any changes for your class, and safety upgrades. shows ya never know what the future may hold. have fun, go fast.
Man, time does fly. It dosen't seem like that long ago I was following your build. I guess there's a lesson in that.
Great, feared the worst when I saw it for sale, make sure you have the latest updates sorted, head restraint, side movement, inertia switches and fuel cut-outs have changed since you started the build...........welcome back dudes..... btw: did I see the Finkosel at Galpins?
We will be sure to recheck all the regs etc. Our main goal is to get it fired up. And yeah the Finkosel is now at Galpin Motorsports
Any updates? Someone locally was asking about this yesterday..........& I told them that I would check the HAMB. Chris
The tank was actually sold and the new owners finished it and took it to the salt last year. They managed to do a top run around 207mph. They made a few changes and it turned out great. Proud to have been a part of the project. Look up TSA racing on the Land Speed board and you may find some stuff
Here's a video of one of the runs..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HGqwZAaJe8&feature=youtu.be The car was stretched, and the canopy altered. The guys at TFA racing did a beautiful job on the car, and it made about seven passes on the salt without anything breaking... Top speed was about 207 and change. The cost of competing was what killed it for us. Entry fees, lodging, travel, hans device, firesuit, trailer, etc, added up to about half of what we had invested in the car. It just seemed better to pass it off to someone who could handle those expenses. We still feel that Front wheel drive, an automatic tranny and a crate engine were great choices for cracking the 200 mph barrier which was our initial goal.
