Thee Inland Emperors running for AMBR 2013 with the Woodward roadster!!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, Jan 22, 2013.

  1. My good Friend John (Jadeidol) has been building this RPU for the past 10 years. He has had dreams of running for AMBR for years...in a few days that will become a reality. Just like 2 years ago, this roadster is club built- everyone chipped in and helped in one way or another. Machine work, fabrication, engine, trans, body work, paint...In fact, a few guys have been putting in 18-24 hour days trying to get it done this past week!!! They officially called it "finished" this morning at 5:30 after another all nighter, and got packed and hit the road. They have to have the car there tomorrow. It has been a long road (especially the last month), as we all have regular jobs, family's and little money...but huge drive!
John works at a machine shop and designed most of these parts himself and drew them up on CAD. Almost every part is hand made, but the early Ford influence is huge. Think of a 1940 concept sport roadster, or Edsel's 1 off speedster. Starting with an original 1928-29 roadtser pickup, this is where John took it. Car is flathead powered, 39 trans and a Columbia rear end. Every part is modified...even the wide 5 wheels.

John, I and several other Emperors will be down there. Help root us on, and lets see if the hoodlums can take this thing :D I guarantee there will not be a car more traditional, art deco, or well thought out.

Heres a few crappy pics from this morning before loading. I'll post more as we go....

Introducing the Woodward Roadster. You guys are the first in the world to see it.

Jeez, that whole thing is "out of control"! That is so FRESH, yet so much like what the AMBR concept was originally meant to represent. That thing is "out of the park"!!! You I.E. guys don't need me to tell y'all how proud you's guys should be of yourselves on THIS effort. Beautiful, guys! DD

It's great! Love the dash and instrument cluster! The minimalist details in the interior are really cool.

    See you guys there.
