Here's our latest episode. We've been debating all week about floor pans. The fellow that is generously helping us with this is a welder by trade, and has fabricated floor pans in the past, so I'm kind of on team fabricate...learning new things is always fun...and I'm more than a little thrilled with the prospect of using a plasma cutter.

I'll vote right here.Make your own floor pans! There is a thread right here by The tin man about making Falcon floor pans. I'd get the link for you but i'm afraid I'm not clever enough to do that. It's a great step by step on making and installing them in his wife's car a couple of years ago.

We've been having some pretty crummy weather lately, so we haven't had a chance to get any good work done on the car, but in my never-ending determination to post a weekly video...

I may not have any expertise in actual auto mechanics, but if any of you needs help learning how to play an alternator with a wire brush, I'm your girl!

  5. Workin' a beer into the ol' 'revival' tune. Amazing! Auto mechanic material if I've ever seen it. Cheers for the Texas gal!!

Thanks so much! Beer seems to make most things better, in my experience, and it makes for some tasty percussion.

You all are havin just too much fun! :D

However, why is the rain stopping you? The car's in the garage - get to work!

The only way a project like this will ever get on the road again is to just get after it.....

I spent 4 years rebuilding my old Jag, so BTDT......go get 'em girls!

It's in the garage, but just barely. With three of us working on her, there's no room to maneuver. We did, however, get to help my brother-in-law sandblast and paint some parts for his 1970 Cutlass, which resides in my mother-in-law's enormous garage. When his car is mobile, we're moving it out, and moving Milly in.

Great job girls! Love the vids. You should look up "Grease Girls" They're a club of girls that have their own cars & do their own mechanic work.

Quick update here. It takes quite a long time to grind off rust and paint. We're saving money for a painless universal wiring harness (finger's crossed for Mother's Day). A fellow in the Falcon Club has a welding rig, and has offered to come help us out. We're making a bit of progress.

Great idea gals. Keep up the hard work and don't give up. You WILL get frustrated at times, but keep pushing and you'll have something you can be proud of!

Here's a few things we've accomplished in the past month or so: We have a wiring harness; we've stripped and painted our engine; I learned how to change the oil in my car (unrelated, but still quite educational), and we are going to cut out our floor pans this Saturday, and weld in some new ones. I'm pretty stinking excited about the floorpannery that will be happening in the very near future. Here's some of our more recent videos, and some before and after pics of the engine.

Hopefully the last grinding video for a while (knock on wood):
