Hey fellas. I have a 440 Chrysler engine that I'm wanting to put in my 57. Is there a mount that will work for this???

Cool engine for a 57 Chevy. You may need to fab some mounts. Should not be hard to do.

  5. I love the idea of putting a Mope into that Chev!!

Cool idea man! Yep those mounts will have to be home made. Make sure you have the metal mounts the that bolt to the block that use the rectangular rubber pads and that way you can fab from the rubber to the Chevy crossmber.

  8. My buddy put a 440 in a 75 Nova, he used the brackets and mount pads from a Dodge Ram Charger (75 ) and fabricated the brackets to the frame. We had a lot of fun with it. He even took 2 sets of Chevy 400 emblems and redid them to say 440.

I seem to remember an article back in the 80's where this guy was bracket racing a Vega with a 440 in it. He was using seat belts as travel limiters on his rear suspension.

Cool idea. Is that what you had or just want to be differant? You will probably fill bad when that guy with the big block chevy in his blows you doors off.

Of course, you could always look at it in terms of 'why waste a good engine'?

This also could go the other way

You will probably fill good when that guy with the big block chevy in his 57 Chevy gets his doors blown off by your 57 with the Chrysler 440.

    Just sayin

    I've got a '57 Chevy wagon, and a '56 150 sedan...
This is a VERY cool idea! Definitely put the 440 in it.
As others have said, you're on your own for front engine mounts.

There are plenty of trans cross member kits available for '55-'57 Chevys. You'll have to modify and tweak it a bit for the Mopar trans, but that's okay.

What are you going to run for an intake?

  19. I have a 55 chevy and a hemi plymouth project, so I have interest in both sides of this. Good motor, good car. Good combo?? The car doesn't care. I don't care. But don't expect much acceptance at thee local cruise nite.

There was a Hot Rod magazine feature car in the late 70s-early 80s, 55 Chevy with a B/RB Chrysler. Pretty sure it was a Gray Baskerville article, IIRC the swap was surprisingly painless.

I am not brand specific I like most all of them if thay sound good and will burn a tire.

Please don't bastardize that car. It needs a 350 crate motor. Gotta keep a Chevy in your Chevy. :D Just kidding. I love the idea. Good luck.

I remember a dirt track 55 chevy with a 427 ford in it and the ford scrip painted on the fenders. Someone put the fenders on another car and repainted them and the ford kept bleeding through.

  30. Big block Mopars fit in everything. The thought has crossed my mind before of buying a chevy and putting a mopar in it, just like an art piece to express myself.;)
