Some of you might remember the post I ran a few years ago on key chains. The short of it is that I have long been an admirer of different kinds of apparatuses engineered to hold your keys. I'm enamore...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
Cool, I have the original "Key Wallet" that came from the dealership that sold my '52 Studebaker to the original owner. Its really nicely made, has a little flap to hold "Emergency Nickles" and has the Dealer's info nicely embossed into it. I'll try to remamber to post a pic of it when I get home tonight... That said, it'd be nice to get one or two more for my other cars...
Oh yeah,I have carried one for nearly 30 years,,the snap is gone and the writing dissipated years ago,,but it's like a old weathered leather coat,,you don't throw it away. I gotta get one when you get them done. HRP
I made a key wallet in 7th grade shop class during our leather unit. Back when I only had one key to carry. Nowadays my key wallet would be bigger than my regular wallet.
Yup. I want a few when they're done. Then I'll brand each one differently to identify the car it goes to. Aside from the car keys, I'll keep a copy of house and shop in each one. That way, there are only 2 or 3 keys in each wallet and they don't get all confounded with extra nonsense. Perfect.
Hot Rod Leather have some very innovative products and are good guys to deal with. They were going to ship some of their hood straps to me here in the UK - unfortunately the people I work for went bust and that purchase will now have to wait ;-(
I used to do leatherwork before I had kids. I made a bunch of those 'wallets'. Tandy Leather had/has a kit to make them. The problem was that the screwed shank that held the keys would loosen up and you couldn't tell until you opened the flap and they keys fell everywhere. Back then I didn't care enough to find a different design so I just stopped making them. I am now intrigued...
I dig it. I've got quite a few vintage ones from around the DFW area. Most from the late 40's early 50's. Cool idea Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
That's cool, I have the one that came with my truck with the dealer logo where it was purchased new. My buddy has asked to look at it a 1000 times (I think he would rather have it than my truck if offered), it's so simple it's cool. Looking forward to see these. I guess I should get him one before my keys get "lost" Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Nope. These things are too cool to fuck up with a logo. There's a very subtle line that reads "The Jalopy Journal" on the INSIDE of the wallet.
What are the two embossed words for these tired ol' eyes? The short word looks like "door". Is the other "ignition"? I like 'em! DD
Thanks. As cool and notorious as the HAMB logo is, a nice simple "pouch" will be me just fine. I never ask for Christmas presents, but this year my niece and nephew decided I need a key chain with a skull on it. I love my relatives, but a SKULL? Is doom around the corner? Have they secretly been visiting the Kill Billet web site? Anyway, I look forward to the new key fobs.
