I have been giving a lot of thought on chopping the top on my 61 uni.Small chop 1 1/2 or 2 inch. Thanks Jake
Try not to focus on the wheels on this uni not sure i want this much of a chop just a subtle chop to bring the cab height down a bit.Sorry only pic I could find. Thanks Jake
agreed. not too many trucks after 1939 look good chopped, actually. and sixties stuff looks downright awful, imo.
Yea it's a nice truck. Once I get mine off the jack stands I will stick some tape on it and see what I think.
I think they would look better if they had a little bit of a visor above the windshield, much like the 56 f-100 had. I have an off topic truck that would make those wheels right at home if you decide to part with them.
Ive thought about chopping my 66 a small amount, nothing really noticeable unless its sitting near a stocker...
I really like the first and third ones that middle one looks weird to me, not sure what is off about it but something looks strange.
It's not my truck just a pic so I could show one done on a uni. I like restro mods my self I am not a fan of any thing over 18 front and 20 back not a fan of flames tribal designs or that chip foose 2 tone style paint jobs either. My truck is kinda a restro mod as it has a mm2 4 link rear and air ride more modern motor 302 but I am trying not to go to far with it so no billet or tweed on her lol.I like simple and clean a nod to the past but not stuck there. Jake
Dont let the restorers that are talkin' no chop ,persuade you leave it looking like it was built for Big Bird to drive..... 2" MAX is the word ,dont go any more or it will go the other way.....As to the pictured chops, most were too low,and that surf green one is silly looking cause it sits up stock height- like a hay haulin truck.....
Go to the Ford Truck Enthusiasts (FTE) web site. Go to the 61-66 site. There is a whole pictorial on a chop.
i think it would be ok if you went subtle, 2 inches is not subtle. 1 inch taken out of the body line that is between the rear window and the bed, you know the one i mean. the one that wraps around the back of the cab. leave the rear window alone but obviously chop the other 3. other wise the body would look took thick. i bet you no one would notice even if it was sitting next to a stocker, an thats a good thing. they would look and look and would wonder why your truck looks different then theirs. if you do this please don't shave the drip rails, the seams above the rear window yes, but if you leave the drip rails on it will further the illusion and make you a god among men
