Projects My first real 33 ford Coupe

I think the chop is great and it makes the car seem a bit more aggressive, so yes I am glad I chopped it. I think the stands is spot on for what I went after, I am going for a street rod look not a salt flats look. Very happy with it to date.

This thread proves you cannot win on here. Anyone with half a brain would build this car this way if they had the means and the talent. The really sad part is when you meet the first jackass that calls it a ratrrod. I love it. You win!

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed following your build of this '33; to me it shows your dedication to building a unique Hot Rod using the best components you can find, which compliment each other, as well as the overall build. I'm also glad you chopped it.
Some guys will fit a big block Chevy, 22 inch chrome wheels and drop $20k on a shiny paint job; others will build a Hot Rod with the original parts from the era, and, hey, good for them but, in my humble opinion, it take a real Hot Rodder to build a car which embodies the essential characteristics of what Hot Rodding is all about; tastefully building a fast car with the best components you can find.
I'm willing to bet that's what the true Hot Rod pioneers of the '40's & '50's were always trying to do......

The hood is done....almost

 

Loving the new hood - I think a 33 needs a hood - the grille looks a bit spindly left on it's own if running hoodless.
That one looks like a work of art with all those beads.

As for the rims and tyres, old tyres are dangerous, but in the same breath I'd love to buy them and stick them on my 34 coupe..

Hi Scott, please don't take this as a blatant plug - just something you may find usefull.
I can't help noticing corrosion getting into the welds on the car. Gibbs Brand applied to bare metal will stop this happening. It will protect it the whole time it's being worked on - particularly usefull for stopping sweaty hand prints from etching into the surface. The best bit is it will cause no paint rejection issues when that time comes.
There is a lot of stuff on here about it if you're interested.
Love the car by the way...saw it when we visited Rudy earlier in the year.

I rolled it out in the rain to give it a bit of edge and so folks would never say it was a show car......so its had some street time.

Glad you went with these wheels. I personally was disappointed to see the aluminum wheels, but the milk truck wheels look PERFECT.

The whole tasteless money subject on this thread is just rediculous. Some people have money, so what? Id rather money was spent on amazing rare vintage hot rod parts than a new Prius... I cant wait to see this car done. Carry on.

Austin or Dallas would definitely be two of the best places to be for Hot Rods! If you want to live in the middle of no-where you might want to look up Harmony, Texas!!!

I know this much, no-where else I want to be!!

 

I am think of Barton Creek or Spanish oaks, I am told these two are nice and just a 15 mile run into Austin.......Any thoughts.....Want to be near or in the hills....
