A little like driving a slingshot dragster, with the diff in your crotch.

Here is another Riley special body I built. This car was a saloon (sedan) at one time but I was just given the rolling chassis and I designed and built the body. Here it is in bare aluminium.

I think I remember seeing an article on this in a magazine. Was the owner scandanavian?

Thanks guys. No the owner was English. I don't think this one made any mags.

    Gang,
I've been meaning to join in, but my arm is in a sling from elbow surgery for a pinched nerve, and 1 finger typing sucks. Since I'm more partial to 1950's American builds, and if you didn't see it yet, the Oct 2012 Hemmings has an 1 page article on Briggs Cunningham and references this nice link, Gary

Interesting article on Briggs Cunningham a name familiar even in the UK.

Here is another shot of the Riley above.

Well no input to this for a while so I thought I would give it a bump and add another car I built a while back. This one is not so much a special as a recreation of a car that won the 1912 GP. This is based on the sister chassis to the winner. The original car has been modified to the point where it does not look like it did in 1912 so this car is closer to the proper thing than the original.

    Flowmeister-

Got a chuckle when I saw your "tag" line.

So true of many of us!

Yes! Cunningham's Royale was a huge and handsome 2-door sedan. It was in his collection for all the time his museum was in Costa Mesa, CA; I don't know if it stayed with the other cars when the collection was acquired by the Colliers in FL.

V12, Frame, firewall, and floorboards......what else would you need? What happens when you bury the throttle? The Rapture.

There was a point in my life that I didn't like the styling of English cars or eat asparagus. Still don't eat that crap.

    The Jalopy Journal post today:
"Built so close to the ground that it barely clears it’s own shadow, a sleek, speedy sport car is the pride of Mrs. Linda Plannette, who is a spare time Los Angeles mechanic. She and her husband put together the souped-up car, using a standard Mercury frame shortened 18-inches and a stock 1949 Mercury engine. Weighing 2340 pounds, the custom made car has a road clearance of only 6-inches and has hit 110 mph in tests. The Plannettes devoted three years of their spare time to collecting parts and building the car."

Banjeaux Bob, your avatar is terrific. Would you tell us what the car is, and show us another view of it? Thx.
