The Moon car and truck above is killer!
55 Chevy was built with the 348 under the hood.

My last build of 2012 and my first completion of 2013. (Please forgive the crappy cellphone pic.)

Sorry about the confusion and starting a new thread elsewhere... Guess I'll move my post over here.... ;)

Here's my latest, finished up on News Year's Eve....

This started with a trashed out '66 Corvair hardtop promo that was handed off to me, by fellow KKIM member, Les Gibbens...

Since the roof was already missing, the choice to make it into a roadster was a no brainer...
The Corvair's wheelbase was altered to fit the chassis from the MPC/AMT Winged Express,
while a tonneau was fashioned, from Evergreen sheet, to fill the opening left from the missing roof.

In true Nitro Marty fashion, a 392 hemi was pieced together with bits from the Winged Express,
Revell's Miss Deal, and my parts box... After all... A big block Chevy would have been way too obvious!!! ;)
Front wheels were borrowed from one of Polar Lights' funny car kits, while the tires were found in the Winged Express...
Rear Wheels are , again, Winged Express items, while the slicks originated in MPC's Ramchargers dragster kit.

Paint is Testors One Coat, Inca Gold, fogged with Tamiya TS-72 Clear Blue, decanted and shot through an airbrush...
Graphics are a combination of Decals by Lucas, and some stuff that I printed up myself.

Nice work on the Nomad - how did you get that back window opened so neatly? Is that the back window from the AMT '55 Nomad?

  19. Super glued some wire to the window first...then started slowly with a #11
Ex-Acto blade. The '55 Nomad rear window is chrome and already a separate
    piece(it actually fits)..shoulda woulda coulda...hahaha

Here´s my latest, finished it this morning. It´s very inspired of an old Customcory drawing, haven´t been able to get it out of my head since the first time I saw it several years ago, but I hope it will stop haunting me now when I´ve built my own version...

All good stuff, people! But I really dig Marty's Corvair! Watching it come along on the hobby board, I am glad I caught it finished!

Working on a diecast concept model of my next real build. I am converting a 66 Malibu Wagon into a 2dr Nomad.
Took the 66 wagon roof off a plastic model and molded it onto a 2dr/ht diecast. Being the thrifty guy I am and not wanting to waste the money I spent on the plastic model, I molded the diecast roof onto that one. Turning out to be a not so bad looking one of a kind model of a 66 Malibu 4dr/ht.
Got the itch now so I decided to rework a couple of my old 37 Chevy car and truck diecast concepts for vehicles I have build and owned over the years. Having some good winter fun with my dremel tool, files and JB weld.

Hope this hasn't been posted before...

Well this is just Over The Top,

It's the Carrol Shelby Aston Martin DBR1 That he won the '59 Le Mans in.

And it's built in a life size 1:1 scale!

It breaks down into 2 pieces for easy transport and I think it was recently at auction but can't recall where.

Some may recal that the Flathead Forums V8bob did a life size 40 Ford model kit (with box included) for his local car show some years back and I wonder if that is where the DBR1 1:1 model concept was inspired from.

Google DBR1 replica for full story.
