Hot Rods Curbspeed Coupe. "Holy Hell" 10/4/2020

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by curbspeed, Dec 19, 2010.

  1. I then fit the mounting ring to the skin. I spot welded it around the perimeter and then set it up there and bolted it down. I still have to tweak it some but it turned out ok for a first time attempt at something like this. It will need a little skim coat of mud to fix a couple of wavy spots but should not take to much. I will use a rubber seal of some kind after I paint the car. Good enough for now. Time to move onto something else. Hope I can help someone out a little bit with my technique.

That chop is so slick man! The roof insert is a nice touch too, if you're not going to use a stock insert that's the next best option in my opinion!!!

Cool way of mounting the roof insert Dale! A little different than I have seen it done before and much more "craftsmanly"....

  10. It will be fixed. I doubt it will ever come out when I out and about. I am noodling a way to put a piece of colored Lexan up into the opening and sealing it so it don't drip water in on me when it does rain. Not that I have to worry about that much anymore here. I used wingnuts to hold it down so it will be easy to remove.

  27. I will post some pictures in a couple of days.I worked on smoothing my chopped windshield frame today to get ready for the chrome plater. I am currently working on toeboards. It will take me some time but I will post when I can.
It's amazing to me that chrome shop charges so damn much to chrome a windshield frame. I took it in today and he said it would be $240 . I told him I would take it back home and metal finish it myself. We'll see how much I save by doing the work myself. I'll let you know if it was worth the time and energy with the tools I have at home. It still needs a litttle loving but I got the waves and pits out that the shop was concerned about. The window opening at the center is 6 1/4 inches in case anyone is wondering. More updates to follow.
