i know this site isn't power tour friendly, but i had a blast doing it.

  4. Gah!!!! That truck is absolutely gorgeous!!

I took it back a few months with this thread. And going thru all the pages it's a pretty epic thread!! I love it and it's a huge kick in the ass to get going on my 59!

  5. Here's how I rescued my 59 Fleetside. It had a 6 foot pine tree growing thru the front bumper, lol

i know its a project and needs some stuff i know it needs doors and rear fenders according to the current owner how availible are parts for these trucks ? i looked at lmc's online catalog do the repro parts fit? or would it be better to find originals ?

here's my 55 2 years ago when i bought it, I put a 283 in it. I drive it every day now. I'm gonna put a camaro/firebird rear end under it, 5 lug front hubs from a 50s chevy car, raise the front 3 inches and lower the rear 3 and make it a gasser.

  8. From my knowledge of parts catalogs (I have about 6 of em) there is plenty of stuff for 55-57 trucks in all the books I have. Far as fit from repro to original I'm not sure. I do know finding a good solid original would be better on your wallet! But I know they have a few more patch panels for the 55-57 than the 58-59 that I could personally use!! Haha

You can buy parts for the 55-59 series of truck from a multitude of suppliers. There hasn't been a better time to by reproduction parts for old trucks. Classic Heartbeat, GMC Pauls, LMC, Brothers, Tuckers just to name a few. Most of these places have free catalogs and great websites to view and order products from.

A few pictures to add to the inventory

Classic Industries carries a full line of parts also, I have their catalog and its pretty complete. stockinteriors.com has good prices on weatherstripping and carpet. I'm about to buy all new door and window seals and it's going to cost me just under $200 for everything I need, shipping included.

I have a 59. I'm wanting to lower it. I'm wanting to see pics of other guys 55-59's and tire size.

    Thank you.

You will have to be more specific to get a good answer. which truck are you referring to? :)

This one should be at the shop today. This will be my 18 year old nephews first project. Looks to be a 60's built hot rod by the paint and 58 Chevy taillights she's wearing.
