Projects My 392 Hemi Model A roadster build

Yeah it's going pretty good but it's forced me to take a three year hiatus from my Tee. Oh we'll. starting to make some headway with it again.

You got a color picked for your roadster?

 

Right on, i'd like to see it, got any pics of it?
i have no idea what color i'm going to paint it yet, all i do know is i'm going to run a set of '35 ford wires painted black with a chrome center cap and tall, skinny black wall tires.

 

Been busy for the last few days working on the frame, got most of the inner structure tacked into place, still have some temperary cross members to cut out, waiting until everything is fit up and tacked into place before i cut them out


borrowed a friends tubing notcher, saves so much time

 

Spent most of the day building a rear crossmember to mount the coil overs too. been using 1 5/8" .120 wall mild steel tubing

Cut out the temperary crossmembers and cleaned up the tack welds and got some better pics. still need to build a trans cross memeber, going to have to wait until after christmas for that tho

 

Great craftmanship showing here, love it. I may just build one of these when I'm finished with my present project. Keep up the good work!

built a trans cross member yesterday,made the center removable, welded 90% of the crossmember, going to tig weld the rest of the frame once all the fab work is done and i can take it apart and put it back on the table

 

That should be one viciously fast and fun little ride.

 

This looks well thought out.

Denso makes a tiny alternator, I forget what Mazda it's for.

 

The hemi with the chassis ... man oh man is that ever nice!

Thanks! the headers are sanderson, i also have a set of flanges and i'm going to make a set of zoomies or lakerster style headers just for start up, dont want to wreck the seramic coating on the sandersons on first start up, seen it happen before...

Looking good. Can I ask why you didnt center the pinion? It appears that the engine and trans are centered in the rails.

 

the motor and trans are centered in the frame, the rear end is also centered but yes the pinion is not, the rearend is from a 1966-77 bronco, its 58 inches wide, its the perfect width for the car, the reason i didnt center the pinion is that i found this 9 inch locally and i didnt want to spend the $1000-$1500 to narrow a rearend, i'm building this car in my shop as i can afford it and it just wasnt in the budget so used what i had. i agree it would have looked better with the pinion centered but once the body is on you will never see it! lol

Was bored today i decided to dress up the brake and clutch pedals with some holes and built a few gussets to support the bars that the 4 link is welded too

 

Got my new duvall widshield frame dropped off today, couldnt wait to get it on the car, think its really going to look good on the car when its done


made a template for the mounting holes






rigged up the body so i can lift it on and off by myself with the engine hoist

the adapter is from Hotheads and the bell housing is a original GM 11 inch from a 69 ish big block camaro, the trans is a muncie M21 from a 68 nova

 

Enjoying your build thread, great to see.

Quick question if I may, did you extend the wheelbase at all, and what sort of length is that engine bay to say the centre line of the front crossmember, curious as I'm helping a friend with his 31 coupe(with 331/T5), and your stance and component placement certainly visually work without looking awkward.
