Aluminum body for a Corvette

Very similar style to a Mistral from the 50's/60's, I had one with 302/5-speed, went well, looked good.

 

Behind the scenes...........Moving the other side up and out to match.

It would be great if you could pull a mold off the finished body and do fiberglass kits.--there are so many cheap C3s out there that aren't worth the effort to restore/refurbish. Something like this would give them a purpose(other than being parts cars). Great job, mister frankinplymouth

Would it be possible to cut the windshield down shorter on the passenger half?
That, if it can be done, would totally eliminate the "Corvetteness"

Instead of having a perimeter frame around the windshield, just have the two outer uprights, and round the top corners of the driver half down to the lower passenger half?? Just a thought.

Great suggestion. Oregon has a large fiberglass body manufacture named Superior Glass Works.

 

I always said the only thing I know about Corvettes is they are great doner cars.

I think that this thread proves it.

Busy today making a longer headrest fairing with a pad, lowered the rear of the car a couple inches. Mocked up a longer hood scoop to give the car more length.

I have watched this build for quite sometime and been amazed at the craftsmanship which well surpasses my own. If I may be so bold as to give creative criticism....what are your plans for the windshield? Many have noted the vette windshield does not go with the car and is the last remnant of the old vette..I am assuming that you are leaving it there to tease us. Please tell me you have something in the works.

 

OK, Here is my answer to the vette windshield issue. #1 I have shaved the "cat ears" off which helps. #2 The VIN tag on a vette is on the windshield post #3 I'm 6' 7" tall and needed the C3 tub/chassie and windshield height to work with my size.
Bottom line is that i need to pick my battles. I have had many builds that were way cool but impracticle. . Not being grumpy...........It's about the build and having fun.Ray

 

Seriously awesome skills! Im a painter and love to see paint, but a polish would make this car sweet. Great job!

 

I agree 100%. I'm tall too and I get it. The corners shaved will help.

I'm 6'5", I feel your pain... Windshield is a pimple but you put some coverup on it so it's not too bad. The rework on the nose helped tons... I'm impressed Ray... Good work

 

Also being 6'6 and having vettes that I looked at the top window frame, actually only fit well with the t tops out. Did you drop the seat down and back to fit in better? I have been watching in amazement too. I also like the new nose shape and looking forward to the finished product.

I think it looks amazing, and I doubt if most people would have an issue with the original windshield if they hadn't known what you started with. Build it your way, and enjoy it!
