How could those SU carbs even work when the float bowls are tilted at 45 degrees??

I'm thinking from the size of the fuel log they are doing it with pressure.

Yup, after studying the photo with my son we pretty much concluded that the quart-sized fuel log above the carbs sort of turned it into fuel injection.

    Hi noboD,

It is hard to run it really consistantly as it has a clutch so a very fine line between it bogging down and lighting the rear tyres up, but low 10's at 130mph over the 1/4 which i guess is quite respectable for a 3800cc Jag engine, admitedly we are on methanol which helps.

We don't race as in competition, just on a run what you brung basis at nostalgia type events and demonstration runs at exhibition's show's etc.

    Cheers.

Where ARE all these six-bangers? Of the dozens of cars pictured on this thread I know of only a handful still running.

How many are tucked away somewhere...waiting to be resurected?

Sure would be nice to find some in a barn or garage, all covered up and complete, just as they were the last day they ran.
