History Vintage Tin Found In The Desert-'33 Chevy?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Drive Em, Dec 21, 2012.

  1. It's worth digging out, it's worth a few bucks. My friend here had just the shell from one off an old race car. No deck lid, doors welded shut, a lot of it trimmed away. If I remember right he sold it for around a grand. Before that I was toying with what it would look like as a hot rod. The body profile on those is pretty sharp.

Around here when I want to know who owns land I go to the town or county offices and ask them, usually that's public record. If it's state or county land, then you probably want to volunteer to do a litter cleanup and not mention you intend to clean up the cars too.

I'd guess it was buried by water, a flash flood perhaps, carrying sand and so on that settled around the body.

  2. You're right it is worth digging up. I've seen a lot worse brought back to life.

34s were rectangular opened towards the windshield, 35s were peaked and opened to the front. Yep a Standard, single centre mounted instruments, Master instruments were in front of driver with a glove compartment on passenger side.

  8. Very nice, Bet a few excited gearheads could dig that out within an hour !!

/\ /\ /\ I agree, they are both 34 Chevrolet Standards, 34's had a rectangular shape cowl vent that opened towards windscreen and 35's had a boomerang shape cowl vent that opened towards the hood.

Either 1 of those cars is better than the 37 chevy I found, that I'm considering buying.

Carcheology at its finest hour. The 40 Ford woody in my avatar was buried way worse.

  24. Pics of the big digout required. I agree that being in the desert, the body may be quite good condition underneath the soil level. If not, there is enough there for some pieces to help a guy out with rebuilding one. Nice find there, both are decent shape to start with, many have done with less.
