If I remember right, that Dauphine had a SBC in the front but set back far into the pass compartment.

Man, I remember that article from when I was a kid in the UK. Years later, on my first trip to Mattel in LA I was introduced to a model maker that had something to do with its build......or maybe it was a different car in the same issue now that I think about it. It was Street Machine that got me into this whole thing as a kid. Love this thread. Do you still have the Capri Metalshapes?

Yeah, I still have both Capri's.

I'm concentrating more on the road race Capri right now, though.
( its basically done, I'm driving it but I'm still dialing it in for the track )

this is from 75 or 76--this chopped-top gremlin is how amc should have built them!

  18. I posted that one for you. I paid 225 for that car, jamed up the 4 speed and sold it for 300. Yours are way cooler

Love it, do you know, is it still in this part of the country? I am convinced there are many of these in barns all over Eastern Iowa.

  26. i dont know if its the log chain hanging off the front bumper or the dinky looking front wheels or the way to wide rear tires or all of them together but that^^^ 59 elky ^^ just misses it for me

  27. Despite being totally OT for the HAMB, I gotta subscribe 'cause I grew up in the late '60s and these kinds of cars were what I learned to lust after! dan c, that Gremlin was featured in a mid-'70s Car Craft and if I remember correctly, it was a mauve-ish with pink-ish flames. I agree with the person who suggested that a HAMB-like site should exist for '60s-'70s rods to keep the HAMB "pure".

Just wait and see, us late 60's to late 70's guys that lived through this style of car, will see them come back around in more than one way or another.

Jacked up in the rear, nose down on the ground, M50-15's out back, Ansen Traction-Action bars on the leaf springs, Hurst Vertical gate Shifters,Distributor drive Tachs, multi-color paint jobs with car names painted on the quarter panels..... I'm ready!
