I'd never own it, or build my elcamino like this, but, I think this looks cool as hell....

This is my 57 project, haven't touched it since I bought the 58. Hope to get after it this winter. Looking for a better body to shorten up the bodywork time. Mark

That square-bird rancho is bad ass.

  13. I really like your '58 Ranchero. Always liked the '58 side trim.

  14. Don't know what I was thinking when I sold this 65. Got it from Eyeball here on the HAMB and it was a real peach with a 230, 5 speed T-5. Drove like a dream but had the usual midwest rust in the back-window panel and inner wheelhouses...

I bought it as a basket case last year. Got it on the road and then bought a house 500 ft. from the Pacific. She sat outside while some work was done on the house. Every 59 that I have seen has rust issues to start with (lack of primer at the factory) now it looks like the right thing to do is let her go. Since I live so close to the ocean I'am thinking a fiberglass car will be inorder. Corvette [IMG]

    They all have rust issues.

Mine earlier today at Lowes, that's a purple metalflake Saab parked there, had to get a pic.

We rescued this one literally from a overgrown pasture here in the midwest. I drove past this sucker every day for 20 years and would stop in every once in a while to see if it was for sale. Same question every time.... NO!

I noticed one day things were getting cleaned up around the farm and stopped in. Speaking with the grandson of the guy who owned the car, he said gramps had passed away and he was overwhelmed trying to get everything ready for the auction.

I told him about my lusting after this car for 20 years and how I'd stopped in to ask gramps about it every now and then. He stopped me dead and said, it's yours. He gave me a really low figure and I paid him on the spot.

After we got it home and looked it over, it had been "restored" several times over it's life and all done wrong. Check out the galvanized stove pipe patch on the left rear rocker with 1/2" of bondo covering it. This is just one classic example of many of butchered body work.
That green color on the side is not patina, it's moss growing on the north side of a parked car.

We passed it on to a braver restorer than us....

That Tbird is killer. I'd love to see some other year Ranchbirds.

Hopefully I get the '61 Impala passed down to me soon, so I can get it started.

fibertech<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_8265539", true); </SCRIPT> ! Fibertech and his creative, hand-crafted models!! Truly the backbone of where Hot Rodding REALLY starts for us!!!! Lot's of kidz bought Johnny Lightning and went against the Hot-Wheel 'Traditionals' (which was a good 1st step), but if you broke open a box of AMT White Plastic, YOU, (Yes, 'U', my son) just crossed over the line at 10-12-14 years old as a True 'Grenade Inspector', card carrying Hot Rodder.

My wife bought me models in college and we had a 'Getaway Car' on top of our Wedding Cake instead of the traditional bullshit!
