I don't remember who to thank, but the tip about Valspar Tractor and Implement paint was a good one. Over the years I've tried POR15, Miracle Paint, Eastwood Chassis Black, etc, etc, etc... and this stuff is the best. I put it on with a paint brush and it flows out flat every time and dries tough as nails. I used it over both urethane primer and Eastwood Rust Encapsulator and it stuck like hell to both.

Ya think ? I still prefer Sherwin-Williams Dimension 3 for any topcoats. Valspar tractor paint might work for an undercarraige, frame , etc. But its UV resistance sucks.

Straight out of the can on the first control arm. The second arm I mixed in some of the hardner available from the same product family to thin it. Both ways worked good, but straight out of the can took 3-4 days to harden up well and only 2 days when thinned with hardner.

Awesome!! How's the UV protection as previously mentioned? Not that it'll matter much to me as I'm painting a complete frame and front suspension, but just curious.

The Farm and Fleet by me has it. I have looked at it and thought the prices were very good, never have tried it yet, but will when the need arises.

Make sure you get and use the hardener if you plan on spraying it on... So far it's held up nice on both welders being inside the garage... cleans off pretty easily, and even buffs out nice... Yes i have a sickness...I buff and polish my welders.. :D:D

Implement paints are synthetic enamel. They have been around for 60 years or so. Chemically they are inferior to even acrylic enamels and certainly no where as tough as urethanes. If you can't tell the difference that is great for you, but longevity with UV exposure is definitely a problem, even if hardener is added. And remember hardener has Isos which can kill you. Have fun.

Some Calif Gov't a-holes came into Tractor Supply and cleaned all the shelves of Valspar, because of lead content. This was just a few months ago. I had one can, and went in to get some more to paint some running gear...
    Bad news, as California usual!

I'll have to check with the little hardware store in the next town that Valspar says has their products.

I've had their porch and deck paint on the bottom of my sailboat for ten years and it's tougher than an old boot. I don't leave the boat in the water so I don't need anti fouling on it right now.
