Engine hoist/engine stand.... Not so fast!

Bought an engine hoist and stand. I started to lift the beast up onto the stand and found that the stand's legs are too wide to fit between the hoist's legs.

Really mind-numbing stuff gets in the way of progress sometimes.

Wanna guess where I'll be cutting and welding tonight?

 

Ha! Yeah, I've had that happen.

 

I had that happen to me i just bolted the engine stand bracket on first then slipped her into the stand it was a cake walk.

 

i made my engine hoist and made both of my engine stands to work together.... i just used the hoist to put a block on a stand this morning

 

My engine hoist has no legs...

Sure, that is what I do too. Once the bracket is firmly bolted to the bellhousing you just crank the lift high enough so you can slip the tube into the rest of the stand. You will have to slightly lift the stand up to match the angle of the tube receiver, but no big deal. Once the pin is in place you can lower the whole thing down and it will sit flat.

Heres me Benching the weight of a aluminum headed small block Chevy, good only for 2nd place, those are 100 pound plates on the bar. The guy that got first could bench a Big Block Chevy's weight. Damn show off's.

 

Reversed the mast and added "vintage" counterweights.

For those who know....... a jd 544 hydrolic engine remover is tits up better than any cherry picker!

Did we learn a lesson here? Boom out too far and always have a counter weight (aka buddy) handy to jump on the back. So tell your buddy to put the camera down and jump on that bitch!

Definitely a very cool idea. I'm going to use this one. This could have come in handy when we were pulling the engine out of our 34 tudor. Darn wheels kept getting in the way.
