Some nice shots of American Idle. Does anyone have more info on this car?

  4. Interesting car...looks like it has '41 trim and doors/door handles. Door gaps are perfect, hardly a Willys trait. No drip rails ('37 model year only). Moulded in rocker sills, and a molded hood edge...hmmm! I do love that color...very close to one of the original colors of the day. Yes, let's see some more info!

According to Gasser magazine, belongs to Leonard Wren, created by American Gasser of Litchfield, Ohio, (no idea if that means it was built by them or the body came from them?) powered by a blown small block.

Yes, it was built by them, was a new glasser build. Its got a cool look to it, Leonard took delivery at one of the gasser events here in Ohio in 2011.

Shot of a couple of Willys that showed up at the NHRA Museum's Twilight Cruise Dec 5th. Got to love the Southern California weather.

Does this engine look like it belongs in a Willys? If yes, whose?

Just another suite of Willys gassers from the Beach.

Does anyone known the owner of the 3rd Willys in this series?

I saw this car at the Gasser Reunion last June at Thompson Drag Strip.

I am sure anyone who has saw this Willys would agree that any pictures of it DO NOT come close to capturing how nice the pastel paint is on this car.

The finish and quality of every part of this car is top shelf.

The "simple understated look" of this Willys makes it stand out in the crowd of the other gassers that were there.

I love to see these Willys getting reborn from the days of neglect and abandonment. I just wonder how much there is to unearth.

Found this shot somewhere. Does anyone have more information on it. The name on the file mentions Terror of Turlock. Means anything? Dick M

Al Tschida at Minnesota Dragway in about 1965 or 66. This is from a large black and white picture I bought back then.

This probably has been discussed here of other threads, but could someone enlighten me and maybe others what the heritage of the various Stone Woods and Cook Willys was.

    • I do know they started with the light blue coupe with the blown Olds and ran in bbGas.
    • Then the car went Black then to the well known Metallic Blue. Or in the other order.
    • Some cars even had Cookie in the lettering versus just Cook.
    • Then, it appears various clones were build (none attached). I don't know what was what as the years went by.
Maybe someone can point me to a web link or site that has a good history on the SWC era cars. These guys had a big impact on many of us.
