At 52 I'm only down for flatland street skating with the kids. In my teens it was empty swimming pools, reservoirs and parking garages (pre skate park era).
Don't feel bad; Fred Astaire broke his wrist skateboarding when he was 78...

Damn, doesnt he know he needs to stay at his drawing desk and away from those dangerous toys.

Jeem, box up all your skateboard and send them to me, it is obvious you are now to old for them...

  8. I sure does suck that Jeem got injured doing it, but...
EVERYONE else that thinks skateboards are only little kid toys, is a complete dipshit! Skateboards are also very good tools, they turned alot of people into millionaires $$. You just have to know how to use all tools properly.

My buddy came back from break during college, backed his car up to the front of the apartment, told us to come outside and popped the trunk. We stood there and stared at what was once his prized skateboard. My other buddy says "You're going to break your ankle". Skater buddy threw it down on the sidewalk and proceeded to do exactly that.

Get well soon. From another "old man" skateboarder, keep on pushing. On the bright side, you can't possibly be uglier than Duane Peters. LOL

Dude, hope your face heals tougher and stronger than ever! Like my old man told me "son if you're gonna be dumb you better be tough". I'll be 61 in a few days and although I still do stuff that I shouldn't, (broke some ribs playing football with the high school kids a couple years ago). I don't think a career in skateboarding is in my future. Hope you feel better soon, next time maybe wear a face pad.......

    Sounds like good times.

  18. Dude, us old guys aren't supposed to do that crap anymore! I have busted myself up bad over the years doing crazy stuff, and I have found out the hard way that I don't heal as fast as I used to.

I hope you're OK and feeling better!

On a lighter note, I saw the new shirts with your artwork in the Rodders Journal catalog and they both KICK ASS! I proceeded to tell the wife that I found one of my Christmas gifts and conveniently left the catalog on the counter where she could see it.

Absatively!!! I have skated on some level a bit since the early eighties when a fall backwards into an empty pool killed what would have been a pro career. The point is, it hurts SOOOOOOOOO much more to fall now at 48 that it ever did at 16...

Which is why I dont ride dirt bikes anymore...:eek:

  27. I would climb on a 750XR and try and slam a mile track just one more time if I had a chance. Hell I would even jump a Manx and drag my foot on a short track if someone would give me a ride. In my case I guess there is just no cure for stupid.

So has anyone heard from Jeem, he is doing OK? What's the scoop fellas.

Just got a text from him a bit ago, sounds like he is doing okay. Still yammering about the trucks turning too tight...

It's good to hear that he is in good spirits and seems to be on the mend.

I was on Xray at work a while back and had a couple of kids come through the line with skateboards in their bags. One had a complete board and the other had the two halves of a broken board with the trucks still attached. I looked up and asked if the cause of the broken board had been spectacular and he said yea kind of but he was going to have to pick up a replacement deck when got where he was going.
