Just pulled an all nighter and drove from Los Angeles to a small country town called Angels Camp an hour outside of Stockton California to pick up my 1950 ford shoebox...

I think I got a really nice deal on the car so that's the reason I drove so far....$3200? That's good right?

I left at 2am and got back home at 6pm but it was a great adventure.....I talked my fiancé into letting me get a Ford Shoebox 4 door as a "family" car....that's why I got a 4 door... I really wanted to 2 door but now that I have the 4 door I'm actually glad I went this route because it works for a family car.

Some know I already have a 2 door 1959 Ford F100 so I also like the idea of 4 door car.

MY TRUCK I NAMED BETTY AND THIS ONE IS BEULAH

The car has original flat head v8 with 3 on the tree and runs pretty well.

Here are some pics of BEULAH More later I need to sleep before I die....

Thats awesome! I want to find another 4dr shoebox some day. Not sure how it is in the rest of the world but the 4dr ones are really scarce around here, plenty of 2drs, but no 4drs for some reason. I dig 'em though.

    Thanks! So today I cleaned
Her up and tried to figure out my plans for the build.

So far the issues I know about are
Some body panel alignment....wiring issues (no brake lights or headlights...speedometer or gas gauge).

    PLANS FOR THIS BUILD

    Disc brake swap ASAP
LOWERING SPRINGS AND BLOCKS TO START WITH
SWITCH FROM 6v to 12v and rewire
Eventually I would like to have accuair e level kit with bags user friendly for my fiancé :)
    The car will lay frame
    Rechrome everything
Install stereo because there is zero music and I need music
Peel and seel the entire car to prevent heat and quiet down even though it's quiet
Figure out a color scheme for paint and upholstery
    Swap to radials
    Drop spindles
French head lights and tail lights. Maybe
Re install some of the chrome trim that I like
    Auto transmission. For the fiancé
    Air conditioner. For the fiancé
New steering wheel since mines trashed
    Headliner
Debate on keeping flat head v8 which is super cool looking or swapping for more reliable 302 or 351
    Dual exhaust
Alarm system so nobody jacks my shit
    Shave all door handles. Maybe
Shave gas door and move to trunk
    New rims
And I'm sure bunch of other little things

WHAT IM AIMING FOR BUT DIFFERNET PAINT AND INTERIOR COLOR AND 4doors
    [IMG]

I need to decide on color scheme so I know where I am headed so I will be spending some time deciding.

    Today

First thing that drove me crazy was who paints metallic green wheels on a bright blue car? I had to change that because I was going insane....did. It the cheap fast way

    BEFORE
    [IMG]

    AFTER
    [IMG]

Second thing I had to do was to paint the raw wood door panels to just match a little better

    BEFORE
    [IMG]

    AFTER
    [IMG]

Third thing I had to do was drive it!! It drove great! Super smooth....

So I am in the process of a 12 volt conversion learning as I go......it's not too difficult. I got a buddy who just wired his shoebox so he's providing free tech support which is majorly helpful......also rebuilt the brakes today. I'm excited to feel the difference.

Awesome, I'm doing a lot of the same on my

. I won't be bagging or laying frame, but otherwise we're on the same trajectory. Took mine to bare metal and I'm in the process of fixing all the rust and old, shitty repairs. 302 with 4r70w auto trans. 12v rewire. Volvo steering, 97 Explorer 8.8 rear with 3.55 gears. Shaving door handles, Lincoln pushbutton door handles in front. Aerostar springs now, then either MII stub or drop spindles. Havent decided about frenching head/tail lights and shaving trunk I'm going with 1970 Challenger Plum Crazy paint and cream interior. I was concerned about painting the dash white, but yours looks great, so I may do that instead of purple.

What wiring kit are you using?

Hey! Yes it is a speedway kit! That's crazy your color selection....I was and still might do a deeeep purple...basically black but in light have a purple flake or metallic look and cream interior. I have not settled on a color selection for this car yet.... My fiancé likes the color below with a cream interior but I haven't decided......once suspension and everything is taken care of I'll make a decision.

So I am about 75 percent finished with wiring. All that's left is the gauges! I took it to the local marina del Rey weekly car meet up and everything was great! Here are some pics of the new stance. New shocks. 3 inch lowering springs in the front and 4 inch lowering blocks in the rear. Brakes are all rebuilt. Found a 5x7 rug that fit PERFECT for a carpet kit for now. And here are some pics of the new steering wheel that HAMB member 333stu is finishing up for me!

Love that color! My car was originally blue too, and I was torn between doing a medium-dark blue metallic or copper metallic. Then she-who-must-be-obeyed said, "why don't you ask your daughter what color she wants? It's going to be her car!" (My daughter is 4). She says, "Pink!" Of course. Um, no. "Okay, purple!" Purple I can do. I don't want to go too dark though because I'm afraid the bodywork won't be good enough to pull that off.

Yours looks nice and straight so you ought to be able to pull off almost anything.

Today I cleaned up some of the wiring in the hood and also decided to take the original radio in really bad shape from the trunk and try and clean it up to fill hole in my dash. It had nests inside and everything. I cleaned it up and put it in and attached my right head and left head temp gauges for the v8 flathead. I really want to cut dash and install a cd player but apparently that makes some guys gasp haha. And the repop radio that takes iPod is $600 so I'll put this in and cd player in the glovebox until I find a nicer radio or spring for the $600.
