Projects 1928 Roadster deal, to good not to build!

So here we go. My 53 Buick is pretty much done so why not start another project. Everyone needs a hot rod and a kustom. My friend got this 28 Roadster delivered to his shop and the owner wanted him to rebuild it. I guess the owner had it since high school and he wanted it rebuilt. So he took it apart just to find out the frame was shot. Long story short the owner changed his mind and I stepped in. My plan is to build a 40's style hot rod. This is just some of the parts I got.

 

That should be a great build I will keep my eyes on this one.

I'm sure you will un-fix that firewall.... Other than that, it looks like a great body.

 

Is the cowl shortened? Looks fun.

 

DeepSea Fish, OH hell yea they used 1/16 plate on that bad boy. I think the firewall weighed as much as the rest of the body. I have a new cawl un shortened and a new stock firewall is coming.

564roadster, I wish it had a cool story like that. It was a mans attempt to build a hot rod in the 70's

Looks like a great body to start a project with...other than the firewall and the windshield is in backwards.

 

What are the size of the rear tires and who are they made by ?

I don't know man, looks like it has some history. Especially since the door skins are cut out. Might be a good idea to take some fine sand paper and see if there's anything under that primer.

 

Ok now that GNRS is over its time to work on this bad boy. The first thing I had to address is the cawl. Someone cut it back and then filled it with 1/8 plate. It looked horrible. So I got another one and cut out the old gas tanks.

 

Looks to be a cool little project....I'll be watching!

 

Well I got some work done on it. Fixed the jacked up fire wall and smoothed the gas cap. Then I got the frame as square as I could get her.

 

I got to spend some quality work time on the frame this last weekend. Its starting to come together. I need to collect a couple more parts still but it at least looks like a frame now.

So I guess i need to show some forward progress. I got the body restructured and placed it on the frame. Then I dropped in the 350/350 in to her new home. Sorry guys its another Chevy. It came with the car and I'm not trying to spend too much on her. Let me know what you guys think?





I also started on my dash. It's coming along quite well.

the "32" dash was a fiberglass piece of crap. I'm building the car as a late 50's hot rod so I want to use a new style dash.

I believe its a 51 or 52 Ford dash I have the stainless that I will put on after I am done with the metal fab.

Well its that time again to post some progress. So i made all the body mounts last weekend. She is square and bolted down.



Then I got the master cylinder in and I started mocking up the vega box with mock up tie rod and drag link. The key words are "mock up" so now no one worry about my safety due to the shitty tie rod. Thanks in advance





And the last thing to just make the my weekend complete I got the fire wall cut out to fit around the transmission. It finally is starting to look like a solid body.
