Anyone have an idea what a 1957, 392 Hemi is worth? The engine is in a chrysler Imperial, is complete, was running when parked,is not locked up, has not been run in at least 3 years, radiator and engine full of antifreeze.
Whilr Dr. Racecar is funny a good solid running 392 should fetch at least $1,000.00 and up to $2,000 easily if it's really nice in stock form. A good core can bring $1k to the right folks. Depending on what options it has on it. Check the numbers first though as a 331/354 has been swapped in there before and they are worth less. If it's got an A1 on it then it's worth more as well.
Go on Hothemiheads.com , and go to swap meet site you can find out what people are asking for any type of hemi. w
I haven't priced them recently but I would agree with 73RR here a complete running 392 is probably worth about 2K unless it is a knocking and smoking running 392 in which case it is just a core.
Typically a non running core goes for 2K-2,500. A running 392 with good Comp & not smoking would go for more.
sold 2 331 complete( not running but not seized) for 800 and 1000 just a month ago, only had them for sale for a couple of weeks.
I paid $1,800.00 for a running 392 out of an Imperial four years ago. The Imperial valve covers if in decent shape can bring as much as $250 on EBAY.
A lot depends on the region your in. Out West & up North brings more than down South. Should be worth over $1000 though.
Bought this one running for $2800 came with the 19 ft long engine stand.://i1131.photobucket.com/albums/m547/speedyb2/DSCN1047-1.jpg[/IMG]
Kinda depends on what you mean when you say the "engine" is full of antifreeze After seeing the prices of a 392 the last several years, I'm really glad I bought mine when I did. A total of $600 invested in two complete engines, one 57 and one 58, plus an iron torqueflite. The 58 was a running engine, 57 was flooded with diesel fuel when stored, so came apart very clean.
