I tried searching but found nothing. Has anyone ever made a model A coupe with suicide doors that incorparated the quarter window into the door. Basically one really long door that when opened up it would swing both the quarter window and the door out as one piece. I have thought about this a lot and need to look at a car in person to see if it is even possible. I don't have access to a car at this time though, so I thought I would ask and see what turns up.
i have a model A coupe. regular doors are pretty narrow. that suggestion sounds like a truckload of work that may or may not work out. interesting, possibly lame. i'd take a look.
If I knew how to run photoshop then I would try it out on a picture from a few different angles and see what it looks like. I know it would be a ton of work and you would need to brace the body well, so it could support the extra weight of the doors but it may look cool at the same time. It is really hard to visualize the final picture in my head. Need to see it done. I was hoping someone has already tried it at least once.
Shit, just shot coffee out of my nose laughing. Thanks. Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Thanks for that pic. I can now forget that idea ever entered my mind. It sure does mess up the looks of the car. Glad I asked the question before cutting on any body panels
How about leaving the door alone ICW the suicide hinges? Then remove the B pillar and make the opera window roll down, hardtop style? With both windows down, you'd have a completely open, long-ass window. Benefits include good side vision and perhaps a more comfortable area to rest your arm. Anyone photoshop that? I've seen it done on customs and 37 5W coupes, not half bad. Gary
I'll bet there is at least one sitting behind the barn somewhere that started as a great idea by someone who did not have the expertise to complete the job. Focus your building effort on building a safe car and forget any extreme body modifications.
