Where did ya get those bullet center caps?

 

I used a standard chrome center cap and whittled the tip piece on my lathe and JB welded them on the caps. I'll see if I have a better picture somewhere.

 

Since gassers seem to be OK here, this is my buddy Joe's '65 Winternationals and March Meet C gas winner.

 

Here's mine, 6" & 7" Americans.

6 pin big window knockoffs

 

From 1964 thru 1981, we ran a set of magnesium American Racing Equipment 5-spokes on the coupe ... 15"x4" Le Mans Torq Thrusts on the front ... and 15"x8½" Torq Thrusts on the rear:

1964 (fronts only)


1964 (rears mounted on Bruce's slicks)


Late 60's (mounted on Goodyear Blue Streaks)


February 1973 (all polished up for the GNRS)


September 1975​

... I still have these magnesium wheels (now severely oxidized ) ... and plan to run them on the car again someday!

 

Just got done polishing and snapped a pic,It was more of a document for myself not to ever do that again. There black now...

I have always loved polished Americans. It took many hours to keep them clean. It's like an addiction. This is from middle 70's .

Love this thread. I have been trying to figure out what wheel and tire combo to use on my 5W. Definitely leaning towards mags after reading through this.

 

I just got tired of polishing them

 

the front are magnsesium amarican racing lemans. the rear are aluminum ET slots

 

I know this isn't strictly correct for this thread, but you gotta love this ad: "now you can make your chrome wheels look just like the popular NEW Mag type wheels"
