Can we have one thread on here without someone saying to look harder? I brought up an old thread on a topic I was interested and was chastised for reviving an old thread..... I don't get it. Anyway, here ya go.

The rears. For some reason I don't have a pic with fronts and rears in it.

    One of my alltime favs.

  14. Now, that is MY interpretation of what a Hot Rod should be! I'll bet that thing is an animal. How well do the front brakes work? I love the look of spindle mounts, but the small diameter brakes and tiny calipers were always the thing that scared me away.

As well as they need to! No really, with such a small tire contact patch it is really easy to overbrake the situation. I just went through this a couple of months ago with a customer that had "T" bucket type wire wheels on a Bantam I built for him. He wanted to use huge four piston calipers and 11" discs... Not a good idea!

The brakes work really well. The back does most of the stopping. You are correct, the car is an animal, it belongs to a friend. I got together with a bunch of his friends and we bought him the rear wheels for his birthday, and the front wheels he traded with Bill Bierman for some aluminum 12 spokes with new tires that are on the T-bag now. On a side note, did you notice the AC compressor in this pic?

Mine wasn't nearly as cool. Wheelbase was all off (more then 96"). Perhaps one day I might be able to build one like that!

Man this car just always sits well with me. This is how to treat a 3w!!! Very Very cool car bud!

first roll out after shaving 5 inches. the slots are cool but temporary as i picked up a pair of mag palamides 4 hole slots for the rear. i am still looking for a nice pair of bolt on fronts that will look right with the palamides.

  28. So did I when I first saw Arnolds "A bucket" on the street in 1960. Wanted to build mine just like it until I learned it would not be legal for NHRA street roadster classes. I still love the car, and wish I knew what happened to it.

  29. Here's an old picture of my '55, with the 15x10 magnesium American's. They were the original wheels on the old Samurai Top Fuel car, and I bought them from Bob Bauder back in 1992. I wound up selling them about a year ago and going with 16x12 ETIIIs because I got tired of polished them.
