Talk about a major "pucker factor"operation. Most likely when he found out it was on the loft level that was a DEFINITE"OHHHHHHHHHH SHIT"moment. Super find. Good luck.Have fun.Be safe. Leo
Awesome find. Did you hold off on paying until you had the car down those ramps. Just in case I love '36 coupes in Washington blue.
Wow, love the second floor find. One of my all time favorite Fords. Now to go look for a barn and hope!
Unreal! Getting it out was one thing, but how did they get it in? Also that farmer must have really trusted his barn raising skills. A lot of old barns around here are all falling in. Congrats on your new 36!
Good gravy, you just can't make up stories like that. I'm glad the ramps didn't collapse on the way down!
Nice Deluxe 1936. What a cool find!! My 36 was a Standard and sitting for over 50 years all torn apart, It's on the road and 2500 miles of trouble free pleasure!! Congrats!!!
Nice score... That's one of my favorite cars. I hope to own one before I die! Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Please don't for put in a a T-5 and and discs in front and 8"/9" in rear. But other than that GREAT SCORE!!!!!!
I definitely kept the cash in my pocket until it was on the trailer. He was running the show on how we were going to get it down. I just provided the muscle (and the chain hoists) I guess the story is that he bought it, drive it for a few months and then put it up there when zoning started getting on him for having too junk laying outside. He used the same ramps and winched it up, where it sat for 30 years waiting for him to get around to restoring it. Actually, the ramps were pretty stable, full 2x12 doug fir plans with 2 sets of jack posts. The ramps didn't even move. The biggest problem was making ramps to get up and over the door, which was about 2' above the floor. I still can't believe the story myself. My MO usually is to build one, drive for a year or so and then sell to build the next. I think this one will be a lifer, because the story is as good as the car. I'll keep this thread updated as I start on it. Got most of the black primer off over the last few nights.
Oh, and to get upstairs to see it, You have to crawl OVER junk piled in the lower level and then climb up some rickety step ladder. The uppper level was so full of just stuff that I had no idea how nice the car was until we dug it out. He kept telling me that I won't be disappointed. and I wasn't.
