body mounts,no hockey pucks

Mounting a flat-floored body on an A chassis. Always used hockey pucks,can't get any cheap; what is a good alternative? What do you use?

 

boat trailer rollers. cut them into "pucks".

Also you could use the original webbing?

 

webbing is what I thought was used from the factory on A chassis

 

I made these for a few cars... The rubbers are energy suspension universal bodymount bushings. Work greats.

I've used hockey pucks before, seemed to last.

I tried to use boat trailer roller sections and the rubber split and became unstable in LESS than a year!
Had to replace it all with proper rubber mounts the vehicle owner got somewhere else.

Seemed very odd, then and now, that something meant to support a boat hull and also be exposed to sunlight in normal use would get bad so quick.
Might have been cheap Chinese rubber I guess...but still I have to mention it so you can make an informed choice on what you use.

Ultimately, the proper form of rubber mount intended for that usage is the correct thing to go with.

 

Hockey pucks are that expensive? How many do you need?

 

I've always wondered about hockey pucks as body bushings.

 

The autographed ones are pricey.

I cut pieces out of the sidewall of a radial tire. Hockey pucks seem too thick for many applications.

I've used them before on non Hamb applications. They work well. But don't over tighten them. They will split of you do.

I use pucks all the time. I warn you though, the soft training pucks they use for Mites do not make good motor mounts...

But yeah, always less than a dollar for as long as I can remember. Better yet, walk around an ice rink. You'll find them under the bleachers, in dark filthy corners, stuck in nets...and guess what, dem ones dere are free, eh.

they have ice hockey down there. When I played college hockey I had 2 team mates from Orlando, and 2 from Panama City. I also had a team mate from 'Bama. Then there were the Swedes and Norwegians, but they couldn't play worth a shit....riiiiiiiiight...haha

Radical idea here, order a set of model A rubber body mounts for $6.25 at Mac's auto parts.

 

How timely, just made some today. Some heavy rubber mat showed up. It is a heavy black, 1/2" thick matt some industrial work places used to stand/walk on. If I want round ones I just use a hole saw to cut the size I need. Heavy industrial belting can also be used, like the stuff they use to belt coal miles at a time.

 

Model As used wood blocks for body mounts. The body to frame webbing was laid on the rail and the blocks, aprons etc laid on it. The rubber pads were shims for door and panel alignment.
