  1. they are what you're seeing, stock & cool but, I can't leave it alone, I'm thinking HD style tombstones with LED's..........but that's a loooong way off

btw what is that in your avatar?

38 Nash Lafayette... pictured are the stock tail lights ( very small, very dim ) I replaced them, after I bought it with a set of Stainless Model A tail lights with "stop" script on the glass lenses... ( both bezels were rusted out, & they had black electrical tape wrapped around them to retain the original glass lenses )... it's said the closest to stock, for my tail lights are 39 Pontiac lights, since the Nash ones in good condition are almost impossible to find

BTW... I'm doing an old school Studebaker truck roadster build, & plan on the "tombstone" tail lights on my truck... the LED's are definately brighter though I may just do bulbs... na... I'll probably do the LED's as well in the name of safety

Not vertical, but they are Lee lenses in 49-50 frames. Neither the frames nor the lenses are symmetrical top-to-bottom; they're a little flatter on top. Personally, I don't think they'd look great on end; I'd look at Cadillac lenses for a long skinny vertical light.

  10. 48 Pontiac bezels, 50 Pontiac lenses on a 41 Pontiac coupe.
Original 41 tailights were square on this round-looking car....ugly

Has anyone ever tried to find a tail light assembly that would fit higher up on an A / deuce body, along the outside, back curve? The idea would be to have something mounted high for visibility on a lowered car. I doubt a frenched light would fit or look good here, so... Mounting a 37 ford tail light on an aero pedistal, something like the sample below, is what first comes to mind. But I was wondering if there were any flush mounted units from other cars that might work. The only ones I can think of off hand would be somethig like a mid-50's Jag or something from the late 40-50's GM sedans. Other ideas? Gary

My brother had a Model A as a school car way back in '58. There also existed on the ol' farm place, a 41 Dodge 2-dr. Those tail-lights from the 41 fit the rear deck of the Model A like they were designed for it.

I don't have any pictures, but my nephew now has the car....I could ask him to take a few pics if you want.

pic of the '41 Dodge rear I grabbed off the 'net

Very interesting! I had some 1939 Desoto tail lights that had neat, aero looking cast stands that I thought might work, but they got chopped up for another project. Thanx, Gary

Boy, that photoshop sure looks familiar! ;)

Something I was thinking about today for your 54 to be totally different is 51 Ford tail lights and side bumps.
