They came pretty close to running an altered in Top Fuel too, didn't they? Maybe I'm thinking of their last Pro Comp car.

The last Boggs car was a long wheelbase altered running as a Top Alcohol Dragster. That may have been after Pro Comp. Steve Boggs tunes now - Ron passed away a few years ago. I always enjoyed their cars.

    Thanks Dave,
The Alcohol car was the one I was thinking about.
I guess I was mixing two oddball short wheelbase dragsters (Boggs & Diamond Dave) to come up with the Top Fuel deal.

I'm sorry but i have to call you out on this. This is the Mystery Willys that was built, owned and raced by Al D'Angelas. The car was purchased by my husband and i a couple of years ago after it sat outside in New Hampshire for over 20 years. This is one of the pictures that came with the car when we bought it. We made a call to Al and he confirmed that it was his car. It is now residing in our garage in the middle of a restoration.

It back in the day lettered up. [IMG] It still has the same tires and wheels on the front that it ran back in the 60's.

Loved Diamond Dave's car too. I see the similarities. Those two groups danced to a different drummer.

Boggs Bros ran injected nitro in that long wheelbase car before it became popular, as well as blown alky. Messed with nitrous before it was outlawed too. Ron was known for his tremendous burnouts - plus the cars hauled ass.

At the March Meet this year I was lucky enough to hang out with Steve Boggs and Terry Manzer while Steve was talking about the nitro/nitrous deal. He said that they had 55 gallon drums full of used up pistons as a result of that deal.

Love that car too! I'd rather have a Healey than a Cobra!

  15. Carnuba, he's probably check'n out Linda Vaughn!

  16. He's trying to see where the hell he's going! All he can see right now is blower and hood!
He's in for a surprise when those front wheels come down.....

I don't guess he has one of those pieces of white tape at the top center of the steering wheel.

Here are a few photos tha will take you back when racing was fun. The one with my brother Ronnie Runyan Al Vanderwoody and Bob Manion has a strange character(me) looking like Forrest Gump.

Here is a picture sent to me by Carl Biggers, Don Biggers(Mr Plymouth) sent me showing Don's very fast and consistent funny circa 1967

  22. With the engine so high in the frame and the usual wheels up leave, Norm usually looked at the center line to keep the Healey headed the right direction. Running 9.60's that car was a real pain in the ass for the gasser boys.

  23. Here's an example. Who made these originally?

  25. Tony Nancy made them & they were called "Race Masks"--my dad used one before the breather deals came out.
You could get the Race Masks in black as well.

I found this 8X10 Photo at a swap meet and thought it belongs in this thread

  28. I used a Tony Nancy mask the last 3 years I raced the RPU. Kept the buggs off my teeth. :) It was surprisingly comfortable.

Original body. Not in race trim until the late 90s. Now a street car.
