If I had posted that my dad had taken ill and was in the hospital, some of you would still be posting get well wishes 6 months after he was dead.
YA GOTTA READ THE WHOLE POST!!
We're waaaaay past the chain steering wheel thing. Actually, there never was and never will be (ok, I shouldn't say "never") a chain wheel.
I was looking for ideas....and between the "HELL NO" and "No no no no no" and a little bit of name calling, I actually got some good ideas.

I love this place. I like asking for opinions and getting feedback, good and bad.
I always say, you have to sift thru a lot of rock just to get a couple of gold nuggets.

Ryan, I've never met you but this place always entertains me, I love you man! Thank you.

After reading the whole thread I guess there is only one thing to say........

With all this (H.A.M.B.)ambiguity in the answers to your question I say the right answer is a definite maybe?

Honestly, the original wheel is nice, it would look great pearled and as others have mentioned the thermos lid horn button just doesn't work. I'm not sure about a bullet cap but something like the center caps that come with the Moon metal flake wheels would look good and not be too 'gaudy'.;):D

    Doc.

  4. Donzie, i was wundering where all this was going from such a small question but after reading you post #211, you explained it well, so let it ride. JW :)

  5. With the sudden passing of your father, perhaps we could all chip in and purchase you a chain steering wheel to fit in his memory??

I vote original wheel pearl black and white/ silver or metallic black/silver if all else is black you will need something to stand out and pop!

You always knew how to stir the pot here Donnie :D. I still like the ideas you told me about at Frankenmuth. Just follow your gut and you will end up with a look that you like.

I would rather use a pair of Vise Grips than a Chain wheel..

    Chain steering wheels are hideous...

  18. That would be a negative from me also

  19. In his case that would be puto,. As in, ahorale vato no seas maricon, type of puto. :D

  20. I actually had to drive home from school once with a pair of vise grips!
Some richardnoggin stole the steering wheel, gearshift knob, and seat bottoms out of my Bugeye.
Why he didn't take the vise grips in plain sight was beyond me.
Still better than a chain steering wheel!

What's a little name calling among friends.

As for the whole 6 months after he is gone thing, keep your eyes open, a couple of years from now someone will pull it back up and say Nope bad idea. Its the HAMB man like you it is always good entertainment for me.

    Deuces,
It is the ringing motion that scares me, its not a chicken kneck got goodness sake.

I have at least 7 of these items, some in multiples. But that dosen`t mean I`m ever gonna put them on a car. Just auto memorbilia I`ve got stashed away. I`ve always wanted a chain steering wheel, but would never think about putting one on my car. Just try adding a chrome bullet to your center horn button.

I didn't read if you figured out a wheel situation, but Id say you should find a '61 Merc wheel... They have a pretty simple horn ring, and would look killer with a bullet in the center! Plus they have a kool two-tone thing goin on... That or an early 60s Ford truck wheel...

Also, Im totally with you on the 60s hot rod/kustom thing!! I'm goin that way with my '66 LeSabre. Not everybody built low riders or drag cars in the 60s!

Someone running 17&18 mag wheels and nineties two tone paint should not bang on the lowrider accessories.
