<hr style="color:#e5e5e5; background-color:#e5e5e5" size="1"> I just bought a 1937 F-37 2 door sedan Slantback Oldsmobile. Has anyone upgraded the front suspension on one of these? I would like to put a chevy smallblock in it, but I need a more modern frontend. Fatman Fabrications makes an IFS, does anyone else?

Read the article in the November issue Rod & Custom. They rebuilt a 55 Olds with later components. The suspensions are basically the same set up.

I don't know about updating the suspension but you can put a sbc in with the old stock suspension in place I did on my 41 olds. ImageUploadedByTJJ1347850260.177603.jpg ImageUploadedByTJJ1347850274.394063.jpg

My mistake, it was a 50 not a 55, but the same suspension design.

  9. PM El Polako. He does a real sweet Dakota front end. And while lots have had good luck with fatman's stuff it isn't any better if it is even as good as Steve's stuff and doing business with steve will keep it in the family.

I put 56 Olds front suspension on my 37 coupe many years ago, had to cut out the top of the spring area on the frame to accomodate tube shock and I used the 37 spring. It was a bolt in except for the shock mount that had to be fabricated and it had much larger drum brakes with more common, larger and readally available shoes and other parts. Olds went to ball joints in 57
