HEY!!! Those of us with early ('57-'62?) Oldsmobile or Pontiac rearends can now get complete Posi units as well as all the other goodies......... Brad over at FABCRAFT in D/FW Texas has a new book coming out at the end of February that covers tons of specs and tech stuff on these rears!!! Brad FABCRAFT 1-800-208-8242
Yea, have talked to them before about parts and some tech, Great people, very helpful.....and a lot of parts new and used.
Sounds like a show me the $$$$$$$$ iteam. Did he say what type it would be?, cuz I don't see it. http://stores.ebay.com/Fabcraft-Met...b=4575218&_sid=41005120&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322
The "early" you mean is the '57-'64 rearend. '56-back is a different animal. '57 housing is a bolt in and a better unit, but you can also put a Camaro/Firebird 10-bolt right in there as far as that goes.
Think he said a complete Posi unit w/gears was $700 and some change??? they also sell individual parts for the Posi, Besides they are WAY cooler than a 9"!!!
Cool! I have a '57 Poncho rear for my '57 that I want a posi for. Do you have a link to his site? $700 with gears is a bargain... for all new shit. Sam
I found out about Brad by accident recently while searching for brake parts for my Olds rearend. He and his team are super fiendly and knowledgeable. He is very patient and willing to talk with you as long as you need to make sure you are getting what you need. Plus they bent over backwards to have one of their guys meet me as I was passing through to get me fixed up. I highly recomend them to anyone looking for info, new parts or original parts for their early Olds rearends.
I just bolt on 70's - 80's 1/2 ton chevy pickup brakes --makes finding parts much easier---what I need is a cheap olds spool so I can use my 488's
I never heard of that swap before. Are those brakes a direct bolt-on? Should be easier than finding the early stuff.
