I'm looking for some multi pin wire connectors for under the dash, so i can unplug a couple of things and remove dash easily. Just plain and simple plastic jobs, not weather pac, or metripac, or anything that requires me to spend $100 on tools to make a few connections. Does anyone know a supplier, on line is great. Thanks
Radio Shack has a good selection. I wired up my gauges for my truck and used their connectors that plug together. The one I used was for 6 circuits but they have different ones.
Try this shop..They helped wiring my roadster.. Scroll down the page for multi-wire connectors They stock only the best stuff.. http://www.precisionautomotivespecialists.com/Electrical-Solenoids-Relays.html
An ACDelco jobber in your area might have something useful. http://acdelcotechconnect.com/pi/wiring-connectors/
I was going to say that radio shack was my last place to locate some but it looks like 325w has ya covered.
I like the genuine Molex connectors. They're available in kits that include the proper crimper, and various connector shells depending on how many circuits you're dealing with. I think I bought mine from Newark Electronics. Nice thing is, with a pin extractor, you can remove the pins to reposition them, or replace them if necessary. The Molex style connectors from Radio Shack are OK too. I've used them as well and never had any problems with them. I think the Molex 0.093" size is rated for up to 10 amps or so.
If you are just taking a couple pins out you can use a scribe to bend the retainer tabs and removed the pins Sent from my phone.
I found this place with kits, looks good. I'll check radio shack first, thanks for all the help. http://www.molexkits.com/Connector-Type/
this is the type you probably would want. kind of pricy here. http://www.molexkits.com/Type/Wire-to-Wire/ vs. the bargain at radio shack http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103252
I use on of these that I modified a bit http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103683 and sometimes I solder the terminals too
I use http://www.anchor-electronics.com/ - excellant family owned business in the San Jose, CA area - I've used their 2, 3, 4, & 6 connector sets under dash, under hood, and rear lights.
I've used the UNIVERSAL MATE-N-LOK 2® CONNECTORS from Mouser Electronics; here's a link to the catalog page: http://www.mouser.com/Catalog/catalogusd/645/1681.pdf They are nice because you can remove the contacts without the need for any tools to release them. Crimping the contacts can be a hassle if you don't have a good crimp tool that will make the required "F' style crimp but they can be soldered.
From my favorite store ! http://www.mcmaster.com/#pin-and-socket-connectors/=j995y4 plugs. <TABLE style="MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px" id=RenderableTbl_634830193006395876PVJR class=ItmTbl><THEAD><TR><TH></TH><TH></TH><TH></TH><TH></TH><TH style="PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-RIGHT: 22px" class=ItmTblPivotImgHdrCell colSpan=5></TH><TH style="PADDING-LEFT: 3px; PADDING-RIGHT: 5px" class=ItmTblPivotImgHdrCell colSpan=2></TH></TR></THEAD><TBODY></TBODY></TABLE>
Radio shack is what I use. Ask for Female/Male Polarized Connectors. They com in 2, 4, 6, 9, and 12 contacts. They work well under a dash. However they are not considered waterproof.
think I paid $35 for the crimping tool 25 years ago and use Molex type plugs a lot, great for steering column
I used some from Radio Shack also... wish they had something larger than the 18 ga. tho.....kinda like to run heavier wires at times... For simple 2 and 3 wire hookups like on a taillight, you could use the 2,3,4, connector trailer wire plugs.. kinda funky looking, but you could hide them easily.. Tom
