Buddy Holly would be 76 today if not for that incident with the plane. Has been and always will be my favorite. Happy Birthday to the greatest! Typo corrected. Sorry
Yep, started out in a garage. <?xml:namespace prefix = fb /><fb:like style="PADDING-RIGHT: 10px; DISPLAY: block; FLOAT: left; PADDING-TOP: 5px" class=" fb_edge_widget_with_comment fb_iframe_widget" href="http://www.lyrics007.com/Don%20McLean%20Lyrics/American%20Pie%20Lyrics.html" send="false" layout="box_count" width="60" show_faces="no"><IFRAME style="BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; WIDTH: 44px; HEIGHT: 61px; BORDER-TOP: medium none; BORDER-RIGHT: medium none" id=f17ccb4cf255a23 class="fb_ltr " title="Like this content on Facebook." src="http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?api_key=309104422494355&channel_url=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.ak.facebook.com%2Fconnect%2Fxd_arbiter.php%3Fversion%3D11%23cb%3Df198fa0bcdb411b%26origin%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.lyrics007.com%252Ff38f2055a4c0e1c%26domain%3Dwww.lyrics007.com%26relation%3Dparent.parent&extended_social_context=false&href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.lyrics007.com%2FDon%2520McLean%2520Lyrics%2FAmerican%2520Pie%2520Lyrics.html&layout=box_count&locale=en_US&node_type=link&sdk=joey&send=false&show_faces=false&width=60" frameBorder=0 allowTransparency name=f31b4a08849e74 scrolling=no></IFRAME></fb:like>A long long time ago I can still remember how That music used to make me smile And I knew if I had my chance That I could make those people dance And maybe they'd be happy for a while But February made me shiver With every paper I'd deliver Bad news on the doorstep I couldn't take one more step I can't remember if I cried When I read about his widowed bride But something touched me deep inside **The day the music died** Well happy lost birthday Buddy Holley, if you could read this know that you are missed.
I always wonder what music would have been like if he had lived. I have a lot of his lesser known early music and you can see how he had grown just in his very short career. The guy was not a flash-in-the-pan. I think he would have had a long career and taken Rock in a different direction (away from the Beatles hopefully)
I hope he and Elvis are jammin' big time with all the other greats. Cheers to his 'die-hard' fans (honest, no pun intended - respect!)
Carol: [John turns off the radio] Why did you do that? John Milner: I don't like that surfin' shit. Rock and roll's been going down hill ever since Buddy Holly died.
As much as I like Buddy Holly.... I think Milner was waay wrong! I like that surfin' shit too!... Happy Birthday Bud!...
Now that's funny Deuces! I gotta agree with you as well. Happy Birthday to one of my faves. Long gone but definitely not forgotten............E
Thank God we still have an Oldies radio station here in Motown... But they don't play any of that 50's music anymore...
He died the month before i was born. He invnted a style of music within rock n roll that was ahead of its time and a pioneer for Fender. RIP Buddy. JW
happy birthday! my i'm gonna go out and finally buy that buddy holly story album in his honor. rave on! my dad's gonna be pissed when he finds out that i'm celebrating buddy's birthday and not his. kinda makes you wanna eat cake.
I love the original stuff too, but Peggy Sue Got Married is still a great song, even though Norman Petty had the Fireballs do the music.
Truly was the day the music died when we lost Buddy, The Big Bopper & Ritchie Valens, Happy Birthday Buddy, mind you...the sky belongs to the stars!
Boy, you ain't kiddin'. I'm sitting here playing some holly vinyl while my brother across the hall is blasting some of that "dub step" stuff. It's horrible.
Bye, Bye, Miss American Pie, American Pie was the name of the plane they were in. I never could figure out why people in the midwest liked Surf`in music so much. They do have some cool album covers though. Years ago when I was a little squirt, I`ll never forget. We where at a large carshow in Springfield Mo, some drunkin guy from Oklahoma City, Kept on yelling BUDDY HOLLY when the band was playin. I used to listen to the oldies station on the radio, but one of the reasons I stopped because they never played enough Buddy Holly.
Wow...if you are going to correct the guy make sure you know how. What does " Would of been " mean anyway? I think you probably meant to say " Would have been"....just saying.
