Buddy Holly would be 76 today if not for that incident with the plane.
Has been and always will be my favorite.
    Happy Birthday to the greatest!

    Typo corrected. Sorry

    I can still remember how
That music used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And maybe they'd be happy for a while
    But February made me shiver
    With every paper I'd deliver
    Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn't take one more step
    I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
But something touched me deep inside
    **The day the music died**

Well happy lost birthday Buddy Holley, if you could read this know that you are missed.

  6. I always wonder what music would have been like if he had lived. I have a lot of his lesser known early music and you can see how he had grown just in his very short career. The guy was not a flash-in-the-pan. I think he would have had a long career and taken Rock in a different direction (away from the Beatles hopefully)

I hope he and Elvis are jammin' big time with all the other greats.
Cheers to his 'die-hard' fans (honest, no pun intended - respect!)

Carol: [John turns off the radio] Why did you do that?
John Milner: I don't like that surfin' shit. Rock and roll's been going down hill ever since Buddy Holly died.

Thank God we still have an Oldies radio station here in Motown... But they don't play any of that 50's music anymore... :(

  15. It's staggering to think what that guy accomplished in just 22 years.

I love the original stuff too, but Peggy Sue Got Married is still a great song, even though Norman Petty had the Fireballs do the music.

Bye, Bye, Miss American Pie, American Pie was the name of the plane they were in. I never could figure out why people in the midwest liked Surf`in music so much. They do have some cool album covers though. Years ago when I was a little squirt, I`ll never forget. We where at a large carshow in Springfield Mo, some drunkin guy from Oklahoma City, Kept on yelling
BUDDY HOLLY when the band was playin. I used to listen to the oldies station on the radio, but one of the reasons I stopped because they never played enough Buddy Holly.
