**Tech week** How to make a bumper

Most of the ones I have made have been for Aston Martin (this is for a DB6) or Ferrari's

I also noticed you call them rail road "Sleepers". The reason it caught my eye is because I was reading a "Thomas and Friends" book to my kid last night and they called them rail road "sleepers" also. Here in the states we call them Rail Road TIES. funny.

Cheers Mike that's pretty much what I am trying to show. Nothing wrong with using machines but you don't have to have them. Even with machines there is a need to hand finish things like these bumpers to get a good surface finish.

Here are the photos of another bumper that I mentioned at the beginning of the thread, this bumper is made in 14g (2mm) thick steel. It is for a Ferrari. I also made the center section of the bumper in these photos.

Beautiful work! Can you explain how you made the center section of the Ferrari bumper? Was it a different process than the ends?

Hi, pretty much the same process. Less hollowing because the shape is less compound.

Thanks, hope the thread gives you ideas, the same process can be used for most parts. It works well for these because there is quite a small area that actually needs to be shaped. Much of it is untouched. I show a shot of another bumper I made on my YouTube video.

I got home and got my hands on the video. Just watched it for the second time, some really good stuff in there. I have 2 weeks off, might even get something done in that time.

 

I do not see any pictures. Any one else have this problem
