My '51 chopped and sectioned shoebox. (previously owned by Larry Garland). I didn't do the chop, section, or paint. Not sure if Larry laid out those scallops or if he just painted over the previous owners'. This is one of the last pictures of this paint job, I'm currently rebuilding the car in my shop as a finished kustom.

I know custom is all about what you choose to design, but I would appreciate input on a couple of scallop options I am considering after viewing this thread:

    Here's the ride: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/album.php?albumid=39682&pictureid=459207

I'm not sure whether to go with the two spoke scallop style shown on the Chevy in post #129 at the back of the front wheel wells only, or the F 100 in post #122 with the 3 spoke scallops on the backs of both wheel wells. I plan on doing a blue pearl or flake roof with a matching scallop.
Maybe even 3 scallops in front and 2 at the rear, since the wheel openings are that much different?

Any experienced suggestions from drivers who've seen or painted more examples than we see on this thread?

    Thank you for your advice.

Personally, I think the scallops in post #129 are better suited to the angular styling of your car.

Thanks for the .02 It's interesting, my first thought was that I had the rounded forms on the car that tended to the rounded scallops, BUT, when I looked at the length of the car, that caused me to maybe consider the longer, sharper lines like you suggested.

I was mulling around taping off some lines and it struck me that if I used the wider blue painters tape as practice, I could test what the forms look like actually placed without too much hassle.

I've been stricken with scallop fever. Today I went out and got some 1/4" masking and had some fun.
