yeah, the 34 is kicking my ass in many ways. nothing major. but i think i underestimated a lot of things.

the 54 is back together with a new bell and rear main and is quite happy. i've been driving it daily for 3 weeks or so, waiting for the bugs to show themselves. but there havent been any.

  2. I can dig it. I think I registered my truck twice for the drags and then finally made it the third year I signed up!

I'm glad you got the '54 back together. It will be nice to put a face with the name come August. I'm down with the rest of the Vagabonds already, ha!

  3. Speaking of rear mains, mine has leaked for a while and was getting worse. We recently put in a lift at work for truck maintenance so I figured it was time to change it out. I used the old sneaky Pete and it went pretty well. The trimming of the ends was the shitty part. I cleaned all the "rustproofing" off of the underside while it was up. Well, I got it all put back together and took her for a spin... And it still leaks! Poop.
I think it must be the cam plug leaking? Oh well.

Sent from my Droid using TJJ sucka!

  4. Hey Dave! What's up bruddah?! I was hoping you guys were still speaking to me. I haven't forgotten about the Heaps!

And actually, I suck, and the truck's kinda "meh" but whatever.

  5. Don't worry Mike, we're still speaking to 'ya.
But you know what they say about rushing somebody...

  9. So, I haven't been very diligent about updating this thread. I've made a few changes for the better I think. I blew my wad and bought some whitewalls and they make the truck much more sense to me. It now feels more like a late 50's hot rod. I also found a full set of the '38 Deluxe hubcaps I wanted.

I also decided it needed some nerf bars so I looked at several examples and in the end decided to blatantly rip off my favorite '32 Ford, the Lloyd Baken coupe!

  10. I also made a simple bar for the rear out of some stainless steel.

All finished up just in time for a trip to the HAMB Drags...

  15. Very nice, Mike!
Really like the bar in the rear.

So now you got time to focus on the important stuff, right

  16. Truck is lookin' good! Nice job on the rear bar.

  17. Thanks Martin! Yessiree! Now that it Is not quite as hot out I need to get to melting some metal...

Thank you very much! I'm quite happy with how they come out. My wife was dead set against the idea of any "gee gaws" but even she likes them now that they're on :D.

  18. Love the bar on the back looks perfect!!

  19. My lovely wife made this badge for the truck for me a few years ago when it started to become an amalgamation of Chevy and Ford parts. It wasn't until recently that we figured out where it should go and how it should be mounted.
It is constructed of silver and enameled in an oven just like an OEM badge (more or less.)

She made it into a tag bottomer just in time for the trip. It survived the 400ish mile trip to the Springfield Swap and HAMB Drags without falling off so that's good!

    Check it out... ImageUploadedByTJJ1346108282.140070.jpg
