brakes are done (new shoes, flex hoses, hardware).

front suspension has been rebuilt (all of it has been rebuilt).

rechromed front bumper has been installed.

1965 Galaxie 15 inch rims have been installed to replace the 1961 Thunderbird "solid" 14s. tires are 195/60 - too wide for the rims but they were cheap.

the hubcaps are original but I painted the insets white where FoMoCo did 'em black.

still needs an alignment but that's easy.

No that is not an optical illusion - the car will sit that low.

Had my eye out for a couple of years for one of these, they are either $3,000 or $35,000. The most amazing thing is the statistics, they sold only 14,713 retractibles and sold 35,578 soft top convertibles. Any major show will have at least one '58 retractable, Ive never seen a soft top '58 at a show yet. They just seemed to disappear. This one is a rust turd! It'll build though. Plans are to build it to the class Good GUys call street cruizer. This is what she looked like on the way home. Sorry if it hurts your eyes!!!!

I just traded a Harley I bought new 27 years ago for this 64 Fairlane 500, original 289/Fordomatic car now with a newer 302/C4. The owner before the guy I got it from put the motor/trans in with all the 289 bolt on's so it looks fairly stock under the hood even a 2bbl carb.

P.S. Crappy new Dad pix with cluttered backgrounds, sorry!

Great score UncleDonnie. Not sure I could trade my 16 yr. old HD for one though. I am lucky ... I have 2 '64 C-dans right now. I dig the happy dad pix. Looks like a very decent example.

Have medical issues that will keep me from riding ever again so this was a good swap.

A couple of scanned photos from the late 70s of my first Fairlane.. bought it when I was 16 a and sold it 20 years later! After spending a lot of time and money on it of course!.. including the paint over a really good body.<input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input jscode="leoInternalChangeDone()" onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden"><input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">

Hey everyone, Just wanted to share my recently purchased 63.

A little info about her, She had a 302 swap and a c4 transplant. It has the original air conditioning unit and is super fun to drive.

While we are at does anyone know where I can pick up aradio delete plate for her? I'm looking to put some gauges in place of the radio. Any help would be greatly appreciated. More pics coming soon

    Thanks,
    George

Crites has a radio & heater dash block off plate, I'm wondering if you could cut off the heater part?

    http://critesperformanceparts.com/

I'm gonna order it and the heater motor delete plates as I'm only gonna drive the 64 in good weather.

I'm going to look at a 64 4 door car soon with only 90k miles on it.

    Very nice 63 you scored.

Does anyone know how to remove the dashpad from a 63? What exactly is under the dashpad? Thanks!

I am the third owner, I bought it with 32k miles on it. I changed the original plugs, belts and hoses and I drive it daily.

    Have owned 3 fairlanes.First was a one owner 66 sta wag with a 289 ,in 69,changed the eng to a 4 bbl 69 eng and trans,daily driver,family car.
Car no 2 was my favorite, a vintage burgandy 64 H/T that was supposed to be a K code. I was a member of the fairlane club, and they posted a pic of supposedly the only 64 with a 63 grill.I had to do one also. Really a great look.
Car 3 was a 66 H/T race car 428 auto, went 10.90-11.0s Thanks for all the nice cars.

Rears are 225x60x15 on Eighties Crown Vic 7" wheels. My usual fronts are also Crown Vic 15" wheels but are 6.5" wide with 205x60 tires.

Those vintage Hollywood mags are 15x5 with some 165x70 VW tires. Gotta replace those tires though since they are ancient.

Took the car around the block today so the granddaughter could enjoy it.
